Greatest opening lines of opening songs on albums?
I love putting on an album and hearing the first line or 2 of the first song that really sets the tone for the whole album or otherwise just makes me go "fuck yeah" because I know I am in for a hell of a ride. Here is some that always makes me smile off the top of my head.
Patti Smith - Gloria: "Jesus died for somebody's sins but not mine"
Roxy Music - Street Life: "Wish everybody would leave me alone, yeah"
Dead Kennedys - Kill the Poor: "Efficiency and progress is ours once more, now that we have the neutron bomb"
Television - See No Evil: "What I want, I want now"
What makes you smile?

Dopesmoker is pretty iconic, obvs.
Crass - Asylum from the Feeding of 5,000 "I am no feeble Christ..."
First song on GG Allin's Hated In The Nation, the unimitable I wanna fuck myself - "I pull my pud until it bleeds,I masturbate on toilet seats"
That opening sample on Mondo Generator's 13th floor, "You know, it's like, ah, you know, it's just a, it's just a, it's just a different thing,"
De La Soul's Three is the magic number.

"What is this that stands before me?..."
"In 1984, I was hospitalised for approaching perfection, slowly screwing my way across Europe, they had to make a correction."
-Silver Jews, Random Rules, American Water
"We left town to the sound of buckshot rain..."
-Mule, Mississippi Breaks, S/T.
"If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man..."
"Only way to feel the noise is when its good and loud..."
fuck, any Motorhead? aha.
...the whole All Hail the New Flesh rant at the beginning of SYL's City.
Bannon's lyrics are fucking hardcore cheeseballs, but I guess I dig the cheese, Converge's "Last Light"
"I need you to be the strength of widows and sole survivors, I need you to be as fearless as new mothers and new fathers."

Technically the first line on that record + song is " They told me that the classics never go out of style but they do."DarkAxel wrote:Refused - Worms Of The Senses / Faculties Of The Skull - "I've got a bone to pick with capitalism and a few to break"
Which is equally rocking.
