Google confirms the memories of your thirteen year old self.

I love the C-G albums, I dig A-B. heretic and the new one are horrid, although the new one does provide some laughs.

This thread has been too quiet.

2014 is only two months old and it's already been a good year for death metal:

New Impetuous Ritual coming this year too I think... that and the new Teitanblood have got me hyperventilating in anticipation, for sure.

New Behemoth!

Great songs, killer bass sounds, some nice blasts, a bit of Triptykon atmosphere, and relatively restrained production for a modern death record.

I kinda liked the video, but I thought the track was pretty stunningly mediocre. Same goes for the other track they put up before the release. But maybe the rest of the album is better?

To be honest I'm not even sure I like Behemoth's earlier black metal work (which everyone seems to love) that much, let alone the (relatively) more recent death metal stuff.

Behemoth peaked in terms of songwriting with Demigod IMO. The new guy has it's moments, but falls back in filler riffs, silly lyrics, and metal pastiche too much to really elevate it past "ok." The production has some interesting moments though. The little ambiences that come and go were a really nice touch.

Though not a metal band, Secret Chiefs 3 pretty much conquered death metal. :thumb:

Thread resurrected because death metal is more awesome than most things that aren't death metal.

[bandcamp]http://slugdge.bandcamp.com/album/dim-and-slimeridden-kingdoms[/bandcamp]

1. The puns. So freaking good.
2. The music is great. Really rides the line between cooky modern death like all those rad epic atonal Kiwi bands, djent and melodic death. Yes. That mix sounds like the potential to be the worst music form in the world. But listen to it. Because it is not the worst.

And despite this being on paper the anathema to everything I like about death metal, especially the overblown production... I freaking love this.

Fucking youtbe bombing this shit.

A couple more that shouldn't really be news to anyone who likes good music, but new Revocation is always fun, and Inter Arma are worth the hype.

Not that it belongs in this thread at all, but I'm also not hating the new Opeth tune as much as I expected to based on the last decade's output...

See that's funny because I was really disappointed in that new Opeth single.
I've not heard the whole album yet, though.

Apart from the stupid keyboard intro it didn't sound like a shitty rehash of Camel. And they let Axe hit the drums properly. That's gotta be an improvement right?
