Bass overdrive pedals

Post by grindonomicon »

Sure this has been done to death, but give me recommendations for a bass OD pedal. I sold or traded all my od's away. I remember liking the Monarch on bass quite a bit, it had good gain range, solid eq, loud boost, and great 'chewiness' to the drive. Looking for something along those lines. Have fuzz covered with a Jerms Brassy (brassmaster), Pharoah, and Megalith... Better if it's good for both bass and guitar.

smallsound/bigsound Mini rules on bass and guitar. The amount of sounds in that box is crazy and they all sound good.

I've been getting some fantastic results from a Tronographic Rusty Box as of late.

Has anyone tried the Ibanez Phat Hed? I've been curious about it.

Talk to behndy about the rusty box, he swears by that thing. SS/BS mini is also an excellent choice.

The Rusty Box is definitely one I'll check out. I think I need to work on getting my friend to swap his Sunn 1200s (pretty sure that's the model) for my Traynor. I luvs the tube preamp gain on that amp.

Where is the best place to find a used rusty?

What about The Elements on bass? Those seem fairly common used. What kind of od do they get?

It can do it all. My "deserted island, can only have one" drive pedal. The Behemoth from Mountainking is really good too, but more of an oldschool raunchy tone than the others that have been mentioned.

... is fucking balls-out awesome. That's what I'm rocking right now. Can go from super-low-gain basically clean boost all the way up to face-melting distortion. Most insane range I've ever heard on a dirt pedal.
