MFZ-1/B clones?

Post by decomposing »

hey fuzzers,

looking for a clone of the Maestro MFZ-1 or B
was looking at the MFZ-1 from Good Foot Audio
but the B might be raunchier?
preferably with some tone shaping

You should talk to John at Basic Audio. He could build you something like that.

I was originally looking at the FZ1-S but think the MFZ-1 or MFZ-1B would be a better fit for what I'm after.
leaning to the B though...

I used to have an MFZ-1.

I should've never gotten rid of it.

It was nice, but, you're right, probably not as raunchy as you're looking for.

Don't know about the B, but KO Amps does an MFZ-1 that seems pretty cool:

I agree that it's a pretty decent sounding Maestro clone. I just made the trollface because EHX has been savaged pretty mercilessly around here lately.

that thing is more FZ1 or A yeah? I'm new to this.
But the MFZ1 and B version seem more throaty or growly and less spitty.

Deservedly so. I'm pretty sure Mike Matthews is trolling with all of these cheapo ODs they're releasing. But I'm definitely going to pick up that Satisfaction fuzz.

I actually agree with you, even as an EHX fanboi, all of those fucking stupid ODs were really getting on my nerves. The Satisfaction interests me because I've always wanted an FZ-1A clone, but never wanted to pay the boutique price for one.

The difference b/w fz-1 and fz-1a is gain, the 1a has less gain.
The fz-1b uses silicone transistors vs. the germs in the fz-1 and fz-1a....I assume the fz-1b is a different circuit then as well.
Afaik.
