Do you name your guitars?

Post by npfrs »

I've recently taken to referring to my new Squier Bass VI as "Snow," because I'm slowly replacing all parts (knobs, switches, pickgaurd, etc) with white parts (and it's a white body). It's something different, aesthetically, from my other guitars and the nickname seems to have stuck with me.

Thinking about it though, none of my other guitars have names. I may refer to my '59 es-125 as "Ye Olde Faithful" from time to time but never really considered that a nickname.

How about you?

They all share the name "fuck this", affectionately muttered under my breath while I'm working on any of them.

My first proper guitar was Jetty, second guitar was Lumi, 3rd was Red, 4th was Midg, 5th had no name, nor does my current. I usually do but it has to come.

My six string Ibanez BTB bass is referred to as "Big Bertha" because she's a whole lotta woman, curvy as fuck and weighs a ton...

It also helps for her to have a name when my bandmates threaten to take her and throw her into the street bc they hate six string basses with beautiful active Bartolini pickups and an onboard 3 band EQ.... fuck them..... this bass is hella sweet.... I'd fight for her any day of the week, and no other man lays a hand on her...... You leave Bertha lone, you fucking prudes..... beauty is in the fucking eye of the mother fucking beholder and I love her....

I haven't named my guitar, it's an SG....

That's a weird name.

Especially for more than one guitar.
