Walrus Descent Reverb

Post by insubordination »

This should have its own thread now that NAMM is over.

Sounds...pretty cool? Reverse especially. $300 MAP, which means probably $250 retail? We'll see I guess.
Cadavernous tickles my fancy more, not that I can afford either right now. :(
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

I doubt that they sell this for $250. Walrus prices are set pretty high and I'd guess that the MAP is exactly what it will sell for.

This is definitely a cool verb but to me the Cadavernous, particularly with it's SWELL feature, is the best of these two. I've only been able to fiddle with mine a handful of times this week but I love that little fucker.

I was not expecting the reverse. Sounds really cool! I'm wondering if you can use the octave by itself. That would make it worth it for me.

In a short segment of the video they show you seemingly can, I don't know whether it's going to sound as good as a dedicated octave though.
To be honest, this thing was on my gas list but this video makes me take it straight off, I really don't like these octave up reverb thingy's.
And indeed no swell / freeze / hold / infinite feature, that kinda sucks for that kind of money.
Then again it does have the preset switch so maybe some swell / freeze / hold / infinite tricks can be done with that, I don't know.
For the peeps who like the octave reverb, this might be an interesting one as well:

I completely agree.
Now that I hear this I really don't like the octave verb at all.
Had to look up a video for the Cadavernous because I still hadn't heard it:

That is way more what I'm into for reverb.
Especially that swell button!

I've been meaning to get some more demos of the Cadavernous.
My playing likely won't be nearly as awesome as some of these other videos but if I get something up I'll try to post 'em here.

Not a huge fan of the octave verb either. The reverse is pretty cool, but not $300 cool. Of the two, I'd also much prefer the Cadavernous, in fact I'll likely get one at some point.

Wow fuck that thing sounds KILLER

I'm usually pretty chilled out with my Cathedral but that is just the fuckin'.... what do you yanks say..... the BEES KNEES?

I love the octave feature, that's a really great twist.

I don't have $300 right now, but I'd consider this in the future....

Cadavernous sounds like the fucking shizzle too but I like this walrus shit as much if not more.....

This is definitely one of those pedals that I need to hear more about. I don't feel like it was explained thoroughly enough in that PG video—but that's to be expected at NAMM and while it's still in the prototyping phase. I'm definitely interested. I like Walrus Audio. I know many of their pedals are just pretty clones, but they do sound good for the most part and I dig that they cater towards the hipsters and indie kids. It's just nice to see a company that isn't geared towards blues rockers.

But yeah, Cadavernous is where it's at for me. I love Blackout Effectors. I think they make fabulous gear.

Yeah, I'd like to get hands on one of these. And a Cadavernous.

I do like the marketing from walrus, they bring in artists I actually give a shit about to talk about the pedals and give examples of the sound in a context that applies to me.

Those short little Instagram videos they put up got me interested, and I'm sure the artist demos will further that GAS. I'd like to try It with the rest of my rig before I bit on something in the walrus audio price range.
