That sounds pretty rough. How long are you projected to be at uni? I have one or two friends that are putting themselves through uni by working, but I know a lot of them get help from their parents; not to mention they're not also balancing kids. If there was a way for you to genuinely enjoy uni I'd suggest trying to find it. (I've discovered in the past year that I actually really enjoy learning new stuff, it just has to be stuff that I want to learn)

This really goes without saying, but you've got all of us behind you if you need a little push now and again.

I'm really motivated to do it as I've just some to a complete psychological wall with work, I can't stay in the sector, it has completely burnt me out. I need to make major life changes and this is what I need. My family needs it, too. It'll only be a year, so I just have to grit my teeth.
I really love learning, also.

going back to school myself come spring. I'm looking forward to it but at the same time am a bit scared about it. I plan on studying computer engineering which I'm sure is very easy and should leave me with copious amounts of spare time. It'll just be math and stuff at first at a community college till I'm up to speed and can start taking the serious stuff.

Speaking of wiring, for the sg I'm thinking 2 volumes for blending the pickups, a tone for just the bridge and a master volume for doing swells and cutting the signal.

Has anyone ever done a wiring setup like this? thoughts?

I did master volume and neck tone on my JM - this way can switch to the front pickup w/ tone rolled off for using octave effects. Works pretty well. On my RD, just run the neck tone at zed.

I have a lead on a '78 Ric Bass in black (jetglo) for $1000 cash. I've been gassing for one and think I can probably flip it if for whatever reason I end up not liking how if plays/sounds. As well as selling a few other things to make up for the damage if I do keep it. Should I do it? If I go look at it tomorrow, are there any things to look out for? Comes with a case too. I just don't want to miss looking into something "Ric" specific that might be of importance and/or not fall for a fake or anything.

Kinda pondering if I could use the NMV wizard through an ampeg fridge for black metal bass..... I'm fairly certain it would be just fine, it's definitely got volume and tons of low end, maybe throw my dirge meathead out front for some grit and call it a day. Also deciding if I want a Ric 4001 or 4003, I'm leaning towards a 4003 if I can find one with the used "character" i like,cause if I get a 4001 I know I'll end up putting the treble pickup cap on a toggle or just removing it and I'd like the better truss rods of the 4003. But a vintage well used 4001 just looks sooooooooo damn tasty.

I found a VTM 120 on craigslist here that some raisin cake is selling as part of an entire collection. As in he wants to sell 10 guitars, a dozen amps and their respective cabs as a unit. I'm hoping I can convince him to sell it alone seeing as I don't have 40k to drop on this shit. And hopefully he's not delusional on price.
