So I've been helping jellfishfuzz to get some photos posted on offsetguitar, and it seems that this is likely a mangled '65 Jaguar!
I think it's actually pretty cool, although I'm still not sure that I'd do the trade for the Kay straight across. I really have no idea what this guitar would be worth in its present condition, but I like it.
I like it too but i think i would rather have the original tremolo. One main reason i would want a jazzmaster or jaguar would be to have the strings behind the bridge to play around with. I asked him before i posted it on here if it would go back to normal tremolo but he said it would be really difficult. So the story goes he said how it got broke in half is that he thought it was fake and threw it off stage and broke it and when he got it home and took it apart he realized it was real. The question is a Real what? I like weird guitars and im not some serious vintage collector or nothing. I just like something that feels good and plays good. I don't think i will trade out right either. I like this kay. Its a feedbacking maniac. but it just needs alot of work that i don't know how to do.
I'd stick with your Kay then. You can always get another Jazzmaster or Jaguar in the future that isn't so fucked up as this one. This guitar does have a certain charm to it, but at the same total it's a complete basketcase.

Geez, he sure did. A ghetto fab mod indeed.
I too would pass on this trade. Too many JMs out there for the taking that can be altered to fit your exact needs. And that haven't been broken in half after being carelessly thrown offstage.
