Octave (Down) Pedal on the cheap?! School me.

Post by doommeow »

I need bowel churning wall pummeling thump in my setup, particularly with my drone/feedback/synth setup....

Anyone have anything nice to say about the Behringer octave boxes? If so, why one over the other?

I might have a lead on a $25 Dano or $40 OC-2, but am curious to see what else I should be cornsidering....

I like the OC-2 and the Frech Toast gets love here so either would be cool for your drone/feedback/synth... Maybe Whammy???

French toast is octave up only. Dano wise you want the chili dog or black licorice.

The Chili Dog wasn't bad when I had one - was a cheap, functional Boss clone by the sound.

On the cheap... OC-2, nothing else.

A $40 OC-2 is a pretty good deal if you ask me. I would get it over the Dano but that's my preference for old Boss stuff. And it's generally more reliable.

Blue Box can be cool, but you can't separate the fuzz from the octave.

I use a DOD Octoplus and it hauls ass. It's freaks out really easily.

Plus it has a toan knob.

I recently acquired a Guyatone MC3 for £40 and it's a very cool Blue Box style pedal.

You can find used EHX Octave Multiplexers for $40 all day long and they're the best octave pedal out there. I've owned the POG, POG2, Micro POG, boss oc2 & oc3, almost every incarnation of digitech whammy, the digitech harmony man, mxr blue box...I think the only one I haven't messed with yet is the EQD Organizer, but I will eventually. The OM might be a little glitchy but man it sounds so cool.
