I have the same head but with 2x15s and it kills with guitar when I set the eq right... The 2x10 1x18 would be killer... New 18's aint too much and you gotta take what seller say with a grain of salt... One mans blown speaker is another mans Dumble Toan... Also "higher volume" is subjective, I can't turn mine up past 5 on either channel without knockin shit off walls (with pre-gain at 2)...

I read the manual yesterday and it suggests 7 as a normal post gain setting plus it has hella routing options...

I had that Peavey, I hated it. It's big heavy and hard to move (it's deep wide and tall, no wheels). And it's only rated for 200 watts. And it was muddy and sounded disappointing (IMO). It was a good day when I sold it. There's a reason they sell in the 150 dollar range.

GAS for vintage heads I can understand, but for vintage cabs, not so much, unless they have some rare speakers with the vintage toanz. Or cheap. But it's still gotta make sense and sound good. The 1820 doesn't, IMO.

I'll play it before I buy it. I might pass altogether, depending on how I feel by the time I can go look at it. I DO need to save money for that geetar I want. Then I can worry about amps again. So we'll see

For perspective, marginally brutalized Bugera 1960s (ie logo removed etc) are selling on the bay for 220-250. Flight case etc are a 'who cares' deal unless you're, well, flying or it comes with cheap.

I am not a fan of Peavey vintage SS units, they make me want to go buy a Crate as an upgrade. Every single time I rolled the dice on a "boy, that's cheap, I can make it work" Peavey back in the day, I was disappointed. They do never die, but I don't like the speakers, they're heavier than sin, and they're sterile, nasty things that gave SS amps a bad name. The *only* two vintage SS things I'd look at are Sunn and Roland.

I'd put the trade value of your existing amp at around $500 +/- a bit depending on locale and condition. They're big and huge and a lot of folk don't like lugging around 4x10 combos (I don't blame 'em!). But Fender has a resale that well, Bugera just don't. Same with the other off-brands, good as individual models or amps may be.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

The only thing I've ever done to it is change the fuse. I want to sell/trade it for something as close to that price as I can reasonably get.

I think maybe he's asking a bit more because he's packaging some other stuff with it. I don't think it's all in the CL ad. Namely, a Weber mass attenuator, and a road case. I don't need the attenuator, but I also don't have a practice space, and being able to play the thing in my apartment from time to time would be nice. I also have never used an attenuator, and I know that they can suck tone, if I'm not mistaken :idk:.
An attenuator will not make a 100W amp apartment friendly. Not even close. And most def suck tone but not until you start attenuating output drastically which would be the case with 100 watts in an apartment setting.

I'm not so sure about that. When I click my Power Soak up to about 12 dBs of soak, my 1960 is not any louder than my little practice combo. And the tone isn't too muffled at that point. But when I crank the soak all the way up to max, it definitely gets that "blanket over the cab" sound, which happens with pretty much any attenuator.
