The Harvey Milk Thread

Post by chutneyfarmer »

Been listening to these guys loads again recently. Such an incredible band!

Picked up the Anthem dvd late last year but only got around to watching it this weekend. Kinda shows a more punk side to them. The songs seem less dark and abrasive, more rockin'. Definitely worth picking up if you can find it.

I don't have a tuner here at the moment unfortunately. Any idea what these guys tune to?

I remember when I first listened to Harvey Milk. It was awesome. I was at my grandma's house, blasting the CD through my grandpa's Boss Stereo. My life has never been the same

Amazing! So glad I managed to see them live too. Saw them in Spain last year at a festiva. Went to see them alone, got right up the front and absolutely loved it. Just so damn heavy. And that bass tone! Makes me wanna start playing bass.

Courtesy and Goodwill Toward Men is an incredible album.
My roommate and I play that one over the stereo pretty frequently.

They're just so phenomenally heavy.
Great band.

I really liked The Pleaser. Nothing else they did really grabbed me save for a song here or there....

At the risk of sounding contrarian, I can't stand The Pleaser. The boogie rock phase was thankfully short.

Special Wishes is my jam. I love the early stuff too, but SW is so concise.

For my money, Life is the best game in town... is the best game in town.

Although Peace and Goodwill is the most unsettling.

Harvey Milk are insanely good, one of my favorite bands. Courtesy and Goodwill and My Love Is Higher are my favorite albums. Seeing them live blew my mind. I didn't know their stuff that well at the time but I was absolutely floored when they played The Anvil Will Fall, so wrong and so right at the same time.

Really interested in seeing Anthem too!

I know people worship this band but I never really got it - the ZZ Top esque stuff was all that ever did it for me, but its been a million jillion years since I went back to that one even. Different strokes I guess. There were a few tracks off each album I'd like but overall I found them inconsistent.
