She-Fuzz (Shiva) and AB-Synth 5k

Post by sylnau »

I have the FuzzHugger(fx) AB-Synth 5k here and I love it.
I never tried some Dwarfcraft... I Wonder how is the normal fuzz sound of the She-Fuzz (Shiva) compare the the AB-Synth?

Anybody tried both?

What do you want? Flip The AB for The she? New sounds? Or same / similar sounds by a different manufacturer?

I want new sounds.
I don't want a pedal that will get too similar with my other fuzzs.

In my experience the Shiva doesn't have a "normal" sound. When the ABS is cranked on gain and clipping more on the silicon(?) side, you should get something close to the Shiva even at it's most tame. *shrug* I think?
My point being, it's very different, so no worry about overlap.
One thing to keep in mind when trying different fuzzes is that even pedals that seem to sound alike will react to things very differently. Hell, even different pots can make a huge difference. For example, I had a really old Hyperion, then later ended up with a much newer one; there was a noticeable difference between the two.
Different fuzzes will react differently to pickups, dynamics, stacking, etc.
So...
Experiment a way and try everything!

I tried Sonidero's old Shiva, briefly, years ago, at a time when the ABsynth 5k was my main fuzz. I didn't like it at all.
I don't remember specifics though so maybe I shouldn't have said anything

By the time I posted this thread, I change my mind.

AB-Synth 5k will get back on the board.

Now I'm looking for a cross between a muff and a fuzz face. Splatty huge fuzz.
Maybe the El Musico Loco Wee Beaver or some Os Mutante clone something, not sure yet.
