microkorgs are a pain in the ass in comparison to a totally simple synth like a CS-5. and i've owned & sold mks 5x & have kept a lot of other synths...

I always felt like the only one who got fucking annoyed by Microkorgs.
I hate the way they're set up so, so much.

they're one of (if not the) highest selling synths in history though. mainly because they're cheap and bought by people who don't bother using them for anything aside from their stock presets.
every time i've had one i've picked them up because they were a cheapo deal i knew i could flip for a little profit. guilty. would use them for a while and then go "meh, time to flip."

I hate MicroKorgs, too

My MicroMOOG on the other hand.... an excellent intro to analog synths due to simplicity and glorious sound.

If I had todays options, I would opt for MS20mini. A lot of synth for the money that would be hard to outgrow and would get you thinking deeper modular thoughts.

i got to check out a micromoog that was up for sale once. nice but didn't go for it w/ its shitty floppy plastic housing. even SH-101 is more solid.

friend of mine (who used to be on here...) just picked up an MS-20 mini. i have an original and think the mini version is awesome. i'll definitely double up w/ one of those once there are a lot being sold used.

I don't know much about synth but the ms 20 mini is the other one i played next to the Sub phatty. It was so cool at drone type stuff. I really dug it. I would have no idea what to do with all those wires and sockets and stuff though
Awesome Deals with:
Officer Bukowski; hbombgraphics; bongoben; Ronripper; Bob the robot; dangergirlstarship; foomanfat; sillyfabe; doomeow; insubordination; Justin; intothegroove; blooghost; strange tales; petee bee

MICRO KORG HATERZZZ KLUB!!!

The oscillator makes the sound, the envelopes shape the sound, the lfos modulate the sound, and the filters take parts of the sound away... That's all there is to Subtractive Analog Synths... :joy:

I hate the Mikrokorg too.... my brother has one and every time he brought it to band practice I wanted to punch him in the face and then throw the "synthesizer" at a homeless person....

Should have... It's the DX7 of the 00's, everybody has one and all they use are the presets...

this thing is amazing.

sound, features, size, value.. i think it beats all the other "affordable" synths (microkorg, ms20 mini, volca, minibrute, etc)

Fuck that thing....

So much MK hate. One of my favorite synth. I don't make much use of the presets. I love the Korg grain and the lush pads you can get out of the synth engine. Perfect complement to my fatso Phatty.

OP : Minitaur ? Bass Station ? Volcas ? I wouldn't recommend the brutes though. I think they work well only for very specific sounds such as midrangey distorted stuff. Not that great for fat bass.
Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

for a monophonic the MS-20 mini is BY FAR the most capable of all of those.

i also hate arturia.

If VAs are permissible in this conversation, there's a lot of great options with record-cheap prices right now. I've seen Roland JP-8000s and Korg MS2000s closing around $500. I sold a Nord Lead 2 for a little more around Thanksgiving. Total crazy talk if you followed these synths ten years ago.
Good deals with PumpkinPieces, hazelwould, PetZounds, Steelyeye, DannDubbleEwe (x3), skullservant (x3), ChetMagongalo, leaves turn, Helter, EvilCatBucky, OddKnowledge, vanderholm, Phengren Oswald, Uncle Grandfather, decomposing, MrNovember, multi_s (x2), smallsoundbigsound (x2), Dandolin, Strangle Tales who is a good dude
