A thickening, not-chorusy chorus. Suggestions?

Guyatone MC-3 does a thick chorus that leans towards a Univibe-ish pulse. It's still a chorus, but not nearly as shimmery-swirly as, say, a Boss CH-1 or CE-5.

I use a Boss PS-3 for that kind of effect. The detune mode on the Mooer Pitch Box is similar.

Boss DC-2 is definitely my first instinct answer here. And the Behringer clone of it (CC-300) is one of their most dead-on clones they've ever done. I A/B'd it directly against the Boss and they were indistinguishable from each other.

Yeah, the Detune on that is a really nice chorus on its own. Plus, it's just an all around great pedal. MXR Micro Chorus with the rate at 9:00 and under also seems like what you're after.

Do the PS-3 and Pitch Box track well polyphonically?

If you like the Boss PS-3, you definitely need the Boss RPS-10 Not a pedal(half rack unit) but its an amazing pitchshifting delay regardless. Its like a filthy Rainbow Machine with a broader palette.

In a related mater, does anyone know a good clone of the Electric Mistress? EHX's noise and reliability problems make me nervous about getting the real thing, but I need that god damn sound.

I had the newer Stereo Electric Mistress and absolutely loved it. No QC problems on that one that I've heard about, and I didn't hear any noise on it at all.

Oh, yeah, I'd definitely say hit up Ian from Gigahearts FX (member on this forum) here.
He made me a very nice Deluxe Electric Mistress clone in a MXR style box, it sounds really great and like the real thing.
I had the Mooer Elec Lady and heard some clips of the Hartman Analog Flanger but I really prefer the one Ian made me, it's based on a Madbean project I think.

No idea about the Pitch Box, but the PS-3 doesn't work too well as a conventional pitch shifter. You can't really set harmonies like you can on the later PS pedals or the Harmonist, and the tracking is a little off. But the detune can nail Peter Hook-style bass chorus, and go from really subtle to really extreme chorus, and there's a lot of really great 70s harmonizer type sounds (think Bowie's Low). All that, and a full digital delay pedal. It might cost you a bit (I think they usually sell for ~$200), but it's worth picking up.
