Warp I understand not working (mode overrides that setting bigtime I suspect in the programming, no functionally different than my analog delay with a warp).

The hold is just CPU limitation and pricepoint.

TimeBender's hold gets slow/sped based on the setting it's in by default (ie if it's in the "Tape 2" mode which is multihead/Space Echo it speeds up, slows down but with a slight ramp to that to simulate the motor change speed, if it's in "Tape 1" which is "moveablehead/Echoplex" it's more abrupt wackery). Use it for that all the time.

Older digidelays with hold vary on what you can do with the hold features too - some are non-destructive for speed changes (ie speed up/slow down is just the sample played at different speeds) whereas others will start chopping and mangling the sample in unholy ways. Both are useful.

Spent some more time today messing with the dd6 and a friends dd3 to compare. I was actually wrong and, in the warp mode the controls still work. It's pretty nuts. The hold mode still isn't affected though.

the solidgold fx electroman may not be inherently weird but it has an effects loop and a footswitch that can send it into oscillations, so that can be uh... weird.

The Electroman is a great delay pedal in it's own right and the "Warp" footswitch (momentary self-oscillation) can be very expressive. I was seriously contemplating the EQD Disaster Transport because I love the modulation option and the "depth" in the repeats. I'm able to get more or less the same sound with the Electroman before my Stereo Wet Reverb (really gives me control over the repeats) and I also run a phaser, chorus, or vibe in the effects loop of the Electroman.

Great pedal and it's nice to have those options.

But, for more sounds, my next delay pedal will probably be the Death By Audio Ghost Delay. 3 circuits...insane possibilities.

Fairfield Circuitry and SS/BS should both have a delay soon.
