Yeah I'm definitely on the "less flute is more better" end of the spectrum.

Re: Bardo Pond.
I guess the problem I have is that as albums, they aren't particularly memorable. Like, I'd be hard pressed to tell a lot of difference between Dilate and any other album. I think that lack of diversity is their undoing.... And it's notate genre, I can tell the difference between Suisho No Fune records and they're going for a similar approach. For example, when I heard them do that covers recording was really exciting because it was like "okay wow, you're branching out a little here" and they were pushed into a different vibe because they had to..... No hate, and I bet they'd be awesome live, but I see why they're kind of the psych underdog..... I mean their distribution is shit too for people who actually purchase records..... If matador picked them up and let them press some lps they'd triple their fan base, I bet......

Were they? I guess they were more popular before.... I guess I should revise it to "if they had more label support/better distribution they'd be bigger"
Or would they.....
Or would they.....

Yeah, they were on Matador from like '96-'00-ish. I lol'd when I realized you weren't being sarcastic because, yeah, they seem like such a perfect 'Dor band.
Not that it really matters, since their Matador LP's compromise like 1/10th of their output.

I'll chime in with props for my fellow Philadelphs.
Not sure if they're still doing it, but the Bardo side project, Alasehir, is some good listening too. Slightly heavy.
