I have Nimbus and it is beauuuuutiful. I just don't really use it anywhere. Just some random home noodlings.
Now that I think about it, I don't know why I haven't used it in any ambient noise recording shenanigans. I guess I should.
Plans for the weekend are starting to form.

so the dimension is catching me eye.
seems like it has more headroom, better DSP quality and options galore.
what am I missing?

dimension works for me
unless the lack of stereo routing options bothers you, i see no reason not to pick one up!

well stereo is not a killer
I have a context and have to still put it through the paces
but I've gotten it to distort with my setup where I want my reverb
It's cool clean and lightly overdriven like the DMM but doesn't like before certain fuzz
so
I'm definitely leaning to the dimension
knobs and switches ok?

I've had a Nimbus for couple years now, I've loved it since I got it and have never felt like I needed to try other reverbs.

However, the Cadavernous that Blackout is coming out with really caught my eye, just wish it had a high pass filter control on the reverb signal instead of a low pass. Oh well

any other dimension users?
thinking I might sell my context... or at least get one to shoot out first.
I want syrupy thickness with my reverb.

The middle knob is a bit finicky sometimes but usually works fine
Switches are great actually

It's super tweak able and it's the kind of pedal where you can really hear the difference the tweaks are making

While I don't keep the dimension on my main board (no reverb on my board at all) I do have it on a secondary board and will run a pretty hot, fuzzed out bass signal into it without problems, so headroom should not be a problem.

I wish they would have been a bit more creative with it, i.e. given it some wackier algorithims, but the ones that are on there are quality. It is pretty fun running it with an expression pedal (unfortunately you need the SA one at the moment), I do enjoy controlling the reverb time or the pre-delay with it for noise making purposes.

cool guys, thanks
I need to test out the context a bit more
and then get my hands on a dimension and cathedral to compare it to :)

To play devil's advocate, why not use a delay that has a crazy amount of reverb on tap like the EQD Dispatch Master? Ambient gooeyness all over the place.

kbithecrowing wrote:It's a total ambient machine but can do normal verb easily, as well.

8 different algorithms, a savable preset for each
access to the delay & feedback controls of the delay engine for ridiculously long verb
filter matrix in grail flerb mode is insane for mechanical whirring textures / noise
hold that tap switch for infinite verb any time
etc etc etc
Really great example of this in Mount Kimbe's "Made to Stray." You can see them working it live on the Tempest here:

^ I see an EHX Cathedral, Line 6 DL4,
maybe the EHX Hazarai?
thought you were talking the Dimension. That's where my heads at.
But I love the way EHX thinks. This might replace my Context, anybody want one :)
and get a dimension too!!! or at least try a dispatch master. gah!

He said Cathedral. I believe they use two in this setup.
