Digital artifacting?

Post by The_Active_Conundrum »

Is there a way to get the uncertain, confused whammy +2 ctave sound without the +2 octave. Pretty sure its because monophonic pedal doesn't like multiple notes.

I'm looking for digital garbage without bitcrushing or grit. Just computor struggling with the input and going " uh....:idk: " before spitting something out. Tried shifting -2 octaves after but....doesn't have the same magic.

Uhhh, Mid-Fi Random Number Generator is the closest thing I can think of.

Nothing off the rack I'm aware of.

Could try to voltage starve some vintage early digital stuff and see what happens. That's about the best I have.

The "uncertain, confused" processing is a byproduct of the processing, without said processing...it's a signal.

Can LFO-control any effects parametrs or anything else in my GR-55 (guitar synth with its own effects section), including multiple LFOs fighting over the same controls.

So yea, random weird is doable but it doesn't get to artifacting.

I've had good luck running stuff (try delay and different things) into a monophonic synth envelopes (like the stuff in Line 6 FM4/M9/etc). It confuses the pitch tracking.

Uh yeah I just randomly got a sound sort of like what you're describing out of that. Not really exactly like the whammy struggling (I love that sound too) but similar-ish.

It also does tonnes of other amazing things! Great pedal all round, but if you're ONLY after this one sound I'd look for a method that nailed it better.

I've had sounds like that recording into a computer that really couldn't handle the processing, I dunno how that would help from a playing perspective, but if you want it in recordings, switching out the real computer for a shitty laptop for a track might get you somewhere.

Now I'm actually thinking the MASF Possessed or possibly the new Raptio might do it.

i've been actually thinking a lot about it myself, but i'm just absolutely not sure what i'd do with it :D but i have some sounds in my head that i have no idea how to accomplish and this might do it

MASF Possessed won't do anything like this, but Montreal Assembly Probability Of A Fax Machine might be able to get you there. MTLASM Wrong Side Of Uranus might be a worth a look too. Frostwave Sonic Alienator too maybe?
