Peavey Musician heads
Considering picking up an old Musician Head soon and im wondering what the difference was between the different series, i think all of them had onboard fuzz and reverb though, right? Whats the power and ohm ratings of these old beasts?

Re: Peavey Musician heads
They do indeed have onboard distortion and reverb.
I'm not much help on the difference between the series, but I had a mark 1 for a while and it was great. Pretty quiet for an old SS head. I feel like it was 120 watts, and had two 4 ohm speaker outs. Its been a while since I had it, so don't quote me on that being 100% correct...
Ran it with two 2x12s and it was loud as balls and took my meager board at the time exceptionally well...If it's a good deal on it, I'd definitely snatch it up!

Dude i loved mine. i wish i never dumped it. It came with a fucking HUGE 4x12 cab. I always used both channels at once and it sounded pretty gnarly. The onboard effects on mine were messed up except for the tremolo so i never really got a chance to mess with them. As osbornkt mentioned, that thing is loud as balls. If you can find one for around $100 i would go for it. I wouldnt spend any more than that, though.
Btw, I played a rat through mine with an SG and it slayed.

Re: Peavey Musician heads
Well if i remember correctly, one side was more trebly than the other.
These things were meant to be a "plug anything into it" kind of deal. It can handle guitar/bass/keyboard.
Ive mostly seen people use these for bass. Like I said, I always used the parallel input and blended the channels. There is a six band eq on one side and a regular three band on the other.

You can find them for 100 dollars (or less) sometimes.
People often list them as 400 watts (that's what it says on the back) but that's the power consumption, not output. 120 watts seems correct. They are sturdy and you should be able to recoup your money when you sell, if you don't overpay first.
