Re: levels of dirt
Yeah a small handful of useful/different sounds is how I like to roll.
Otherwise I'll just spend time wondering which sound to use and have too much overlap in sound.
I know I've hyped it to death on here, but after jamming with some dudes last night my Tone Machine/Pharaoh combo is going to be my only dirt pedal for now. Four sounds with enough flavor to keep me happy in almost every context I can think of... except maybe some crazy gated/oscillated shit, but there's always room to expand....

Re: levels of dirt
I go Octave Fuzz - Wooly Fuzz - Synthy Fuzz - Filter - Massive Overdrive.
They all sound super different live and I use 'em together in different combos for different parts of different songs. Octave Fuzz adds a channel to everything after it and rules the mostest with Wooly Fuzz. Filter adds another channel to everything and can get all T Rex with Massive Overdrive.
SYNERGISE, people.

Re: levels of dirt
I justify the amount ov dirt I have by having pre and post pitchfactor dirt. It's become a very Intagral part of my sound so I'm always moving dirt around it trying different settings. I don't have as much as a lot of you guys but I think with 6 dirt peds I can get just about all the dirty sounds I want.

Re: levels of dirt
I admit i'm still looking for those octave down glitches etc, like I used to get from TGD or Fuzz Factory... the Fingerprint can do that in certain settings, but it's just not THAT unstable and fucked up
however, i already think that by having 4 on board, i'm pushing it a little bit
never had so many, so i'm trying not to overdo it

I was there....Ragged Trousers wrote:Haha, Mogwai have a song called 'George Square Thatcher Death Party' that they had out years before she died. George Square is right in the centre of Glasgow, then when she died, there was a party in George Square. It was awesome![]()
But on the subject of dirt, my new TH30 has thrown me for a loop. I usually end up just plugging straight in to the amp with no effects at all right now... Though thats at home. Got no capacity to use it at practice
But i use a Crimson drive Mk2 and a Tone Reaper for pedal dirt, Sometimes the crimson for a little edge in the clean, But usually use it to tighten the amp gain up, or into the Reaper for some weird super high gain fuzz...
