12s for guitar and bass

I have a pair of Kustom vertical PA 412s I'm looking to respeaker, planning on using them for both guitar and bass, and need some help with choosing the speakers...

Im not looking for gobs of bass when using the cabs for bass, more of a grindy tone but most importantly they won't blow up from fuzzed out lower frequencies. I'm buying all 8 at the same time so, I'd rather not spend more than $60 per speaker. I can't father putting over a grand worth of speakers in inefficient cabs I bought for $100.

So far I'm looking at Jensen MOD12-35s...theyre getting good reviews, $45ish, and Jensen themselves say they're grindy bass speakers. Anyone here have any experience with these speakers? Or the 50/70 watt models?

If not, what are some other guitar/bass 12s?

Ive never used the Jensens myself, but id be intereested in knowning how they worked out for you if you get them. I believe the mod70s are whats loaded in Behringer 4x12s, or at least thats what i read once.

Ordered the 50 watt Jensen MODs today....

I have the 10" version of the Jensend MOD-50 in my 810 and its a much higher frequency than the rest of the original CTS speakers in there. I set it all the way at the bottom. I mean, it gets the job done though. Hope the 12" version works out a bit better for you. The cab might limit the bass response but I'm sure you know that already. Keep us updated.

I was cosidering those but I wanted a speaker that would break up more than have a speaker that will take a beating while asking for more

Got the speakers, headed down to the practice to load them. Will have the LOUD report later tonight.

I take it since you didnt get back on here raving about them that they didnt work so well?

I really like them, just not in the way I thought would. They arent really usable as bass speakers, but I think no matter what speakers I put in these cabs they won't work for bass, the cabs just arent big enough for low frequencies. These things are LOUD and clear as a bell. They would be great for a loud funk band. But when I run them with with my 18s, its a perfect two piece full range sound. They add that high end that my full range 18s just dont hit. I'm happy with the way they turned out.

My camera wasn't working when I was there, I'll take pictures next time Im there.
