You asked for "Any filter or synth box. Throw whatever you've got at me," then got all upset and acted like no one was paying attention when we did just that.
Which is basically what happens every time you make a thread.

No, I got the "important parts" where you're hypercritical to the point of being insulting to the people who're trying to help you in this thread.DaveLawrence wrote: Well, at least you are consistent.
Being unpleasant and skipping over the important parts of my posts.

You half-ass read the OP and then MISSED THE POSTS WHERE I WAS UPDATING MY NEEDS.
Now you are still here, well after this thread is basically over to talk trash. Just stop.

Like I said, I tried being nice.D.o.S. wrote:Your needs? What about my needs?
I'll be more attentive to your needs in your threads, but for a good two pages I was getting dirt recommendations when I said that I had enough in my OP. I had to turn it around quick even if it meant hurting a few feelings in the process.

Re: Looking for a pedal that is hard to describe
Well, if you really want to be specific and parse your post, you'd said that you really liked your Robot Factory White Russian, but that it fell apart on chords and wasn't transparent, and that you'd had enough overdrives to stack that you could cop the White Russian tone and didn't need a big-muff style distortion/fuzz tone.
So no one gave you any recommendations for Big Muff flavored dirt, but you definitely added in the modulation as an afterthought to your post, based on where it was in your paragraph structure, and even asked that the modulation be subtle--not something one typically asks about if they're looking for a modulation pedal.
Then, after two pages of getting recommendations that you didn't want because you suck at writing, you decided to get all uppity. We're not a library , and we're not here to cater to your needs. Be friendly.

I read it multiple times and I was so puzzled that I didn't even bother recommending ANYTHING, because I had NO IDEA what were you looking for... even type of the effectDaveLawrence wrote: Read more carefully next time then please.

Re: Looking for a pedal that is hard to describe
The important thing is that this thread needs to die.
Like I said, it is a process. I voiced my changing opinion regardless of whether you were too hard up on parts of the OP to see them or not.
Also, that last comment applies to you lot too.
And I should have realized that on a site called ilovefuzz would read "I have enough dirt" as "I have enough (of one kind of) dirt."
And neither did I when I started the thread. I am not very familiar with what pedals are out there. But I eventually still got there.DarkAxel wrote:I read it multiple times and I was so puzzled that I didn't even bother recommending ANYTHING, because I had NO IDEA what were you looking for... even type of the effectDaveLawrence wrote: Read more carefully next time then please.![]()
that's just for the record.

I asked for the modulation in posts after once I realized that synth sounding dirt is really not the solution. Again, that is included in not reading beyond the OP. The thread was already underway then.D.o.S. wrote:Well, if you really want to be specific and parse your post, you'd said that you really liked your Robot Factory White Russian, but that it fell apart on chords and wasn't transparent, and that you'd had enough overdrives to stack that you could cop the White Russian tone and didn't need a big-muff style distortion/fuzz tone.

Re: Looking for a pedal that is hard to describe
this is like a moshpit gone wrong
now all beef aside... man, we all know how hard it is to describe sound. Especially if that sound doesn't really exist and you only hear it in your head. I personally get it too much and due to the lack of available means of communication and money, I had to let tons of sound die and be forgotten. Sorry if we're not helping, but honestly, this shit is tough to begin with. And if you yourself are having trouble describing it, it's even more tough
So lets all take a deep breath and talk about it, dudes
now metallic edge clearly suggests flanger to me. But if you're looking for some kind of background filth, that's where it becomes tough... One thing is clear - you need a mix knob to be present in the pedal... ideally controllable via expression pedal... modulation... how about some vinyl/lo-fi record simulator thing? Because sometimes, vibratos and modulation like that can give you some kind of metallic edge?
something like Hexe Melusine of maybe more like Zvex Instant Lofi Junkie?
i really don't know... and the toughest part is that i'm afraid you will have to do it with multiple pedals OR pay a lot, because specific shit always costs a lot... i'm brainstorming
you know what would be cool? do you have any songs in mind that would at least come close to the sound you're trying to get?

And my chosen solution was a TCE NM-1 in one loop of a Boss LS-2.
The pedal chain will look something like this:
Instrument
v
Boss PS-6 Harmonist
v
Wampler Euphoria
v
Boss LS-2 in "mix" mode
A loop: Black Arts Toneworks Black Forest -> TC Electronics Nova Modulator
B loop: Left clean for now
v
ISP Decimator
v
Amp
Pedals come in next week, hopefully everything works.
Not particularly to be honest. I just feel my tone is too "natural" and straightforward sounding.DarkAxel wrote:you know what would be cool? do you have any songs in mind that would at least come close to the sound you're trying to get?
I want to increase the rawness of the tone without making it sound angrier if you know what I mean. Also, I have been needing modulation to spruce up the "lushness" of my tone anyways.
What inspired the idea of "coldness" was this though:

I love how impersonal but purposeful that synth sounds.

Well then... the Zvex Machine recommendation is not a bad idea
for dirt sounds... maybe design a clone with someone that will give you a bit more control?
