12" speaker suggestions?
What's a good 12" speaker that will handle some baritone lows, but also jangly jazzmaster highs? Doomy/ambient music.
WGS Reaper?
Swamp Thang?
Delta 12a?

Delta 12a is my favorite. Very well rounded for a bass speaker and sounds great with both guitar and bass. I also have a WGS Reaper, which I'm almost done breaking in, but I haven't compared the two yet

Depending on how much wattage you need the Cannabis Rex is a great speaker.
Sounds just right for guitar and can definitely handle the baritoanz lows too.

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
I'm pretty happy with my Swamp Thangs. Get ready for a heavier cab, though
I put a pair in my Twin in the hopes of handling loud/lows better, but I haven't noticed any kind of drop in the trebles. It is a Twin Reverb, after all.
If you really want to kick some guts with your 12's you're going to want a closed back bass style cab. An open back guitar amp will sound tough all on it's own, but compared to some proper bass pushing machine, it really falls apart.

I used a Swamp Thang and a Cannabis Rex with the Handsome Devil. I thought the Swamp Thang sounded nice and dynamic but the Cannabis was kind of flat and muddy.

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
I love my Swamp Thang speakers. I have a 2x12 blues breaker style from Avatar. While a little on the heavy side it brings the heavy and seems to handle anything I've thrown at it without farting out or sounding like doo doo.

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
What amp will they be for? I like EV's (or EV clones/variants) for handling low end and staying clean and articulate up above. They are heavy, but they sound great and a pair of them will handle almost any amp you have. I also love Greembacks but they might be a hair flubby with a baritone. Unless you find some 55hz cone versions or variants. I have a Scumback 55hz and it sounds awesome. I play in C# though and sometimes just B.

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
If you can handle the weight the Delta Pro12A's are the way to go, one of my favorite speakers ever. Otherwise if your looking for huge low end and relatively light weight I'm really digging the celestion hot100's (G12T-100) in my Matamp cab, they sound HUGE in Drop F and made me reconsider the need for 15's in my small setup.

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
I've used those before and found them to have a chunky or blocky tone to the mids when cranked, while most other speakers I've had stayed smooth.theAntihero wrote:Im a fan of Swamps too, massive sounding speaker

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
They do have a fairly chunky midrange, IMO the mids the Swamps have is just mean sounding all around. They also handle loads of lowend, can hadle quite a lot of power before breakup and are very efficient

Re: 12" speaker suggestions?
You guys are giving me too many damn suggestions! And speakers are just one of those things that YouTube videos cannot do justice. I'm starting to think I'll just try and track down whatever is cheapest out of all those on this page.
And the amp is a BlackHeart Handsome Devil. I just bought a Jet City cab and I want to swap out the speaker.
