Which builders are making the most psychedelic, wild pedals?

The builders MEC and backwardsvoyager mentioned consistently create pedals that out of the box sound like nothing else. They are pushing guitar sounds into new areas.

Most builders are content on reproducing the same crap. Which is fine. Most guitarists want the same crap.

I agree with this.

I was just saying that any pedal can sound wild, psychedelic depending on the players imagination and creativity. Also just having pedal from masf for i.e doesn't mean a player is going to be able to make sounds that are more psychedelic, wild than if he had a pedal that was a clone of a clone of a fuzz-face. I think. also i'm still waiting on my osc03 and posssed delay to show up....

I might add it depends on what end of the psychedelia spectrum you wanna visit. That deep, droney, introspective end? That trip the light fantastic end? The bit where the comedown vomit is starting to fuck with your viewing of the dawn? The super paranoid, gonna need a bong to deal with this shit times?

Psychedelic sound is subjective me thinks. I have to agree with UG about the player but psychedelic sounds are all about how the listener interprets the sound. Ive witnessed a tin flower endlessly bloom from the wood on a dock to the sound of a single banjo, crickets, and a river. That was the most psychedelic sound ive ever heard. The drugs, the player, the environment, my mood, all that determines, to me, whats psychedelic. A psychedelic sound is an experience.

I think any effect that creates depth and atmosphere is psychedelic. A good delay and reverb with feedback set high and some trips will send me flying through the cosmos. Throw some rythmic effects like tremolo in moderation. Some slow modulation....idunno. I find alot of sounds psychedelic. My favorite sound while tripping is fighting oscillating fuzz with my guitar signal or listening to a wolf computer sustain freakout into a verb...or two.

You know what else is psychedelic? Bass with your back against the speaker grill.

Probably the craziest pedal ive played is the Snarling Dogs Mold Spore but its more 50s sci-fi sounding, yay for treadle ring mods!

I'd add the fantastic and weird Dwarfcraft Devices, Devi Ever, and 4Ms pedals, Mr Black (the echoes are out of the box pretty much head music)... Montreal Assembly, Mountainking Electronics, Moody Sounds, Electro Faustus, McSpunckle, Langtronix, Dirge (if not already mentioned (and if not - fuck You everybody))...

And that's only the builders I personally like in addition to Fuzzhugger etc etc etc mentioned already.

There's also pedals in the production line by even run-of-the-mill factories like Boss (try the RE-20 Space Echo if not familiar with that yet), DOD (the crazy old unholy trinity of Gonkulator, BuzzBox and MeatBox) and Digitech (HardWire series Supernatural echo), Ibanez/Maxon, and EHX (there's a lot there). Many pedals can sound musically tried-and-tue-and-just-the-thing-You-expect-from-them (that is EXACTLY what You probably don't want) BEFORE You give Yourself the permission to go all adventurous. There's crazy fringe sounds to be dialed in and used by the brave.
