So I ordered a bstock NIB digitech jamman solo xt from PGS during their after Xmas sale - it's probably already at the PO waiting for me to pick it up once I return from my holiday travels.
While it wasn't entirely a whim, I am starting to think it may be over kill for what I had in mind.... I don't really need a looper, there's already two on my main board - a timebender fairly early in my chain and a delaylab which would be last in the chain before the jam man.
What I want(ed) the Jamman for is to essentially act as the go between for my board(s) and software on my MBa and/or IOS devices. Making loops with my board to then transfer for manipulation and general fuckery in software - and vice versa, taking stuff generated in software for manipulation on my board and (possibly, eventually?) through my amp and cabs for rerecording, all of it adding up to the postdroneoperathing I’ve been writing…
I know there’s all sort of sound cards, capture devices, cables I could plug into my mac or iPhone/Pad. And there’s certainly other loopers or similar, some of the Boss RC series etc, that have USB outs for moving data back and forth. The Jamman seemed ideal for me as the storage/transfer was removable - just pull out the CF/mSD/whatever card and work where and whenever I wanted, didn’t have to have my mac and rig in the same place, wasn’t tethered and burdened by cables or having to worry about setting up and running software while I’m manipulating my unwieldy rig in my too small space.
So.
tl;dr
Is there something I should be considering other than the Digitech Jamman for moving data back and forth to my computer/recording setup? Ideally something less expensive? (If the Mooer looper thing wasn’t apparently vaporware it would be a possible solution)…. But most important that doesn't require me running software in realtime or any additional wires (USB or otherwise)...
Help me Obi Wan…..
