Any of you bassist looking to try out one of the new Epiphone classic thunderbird? I have a brand new one with hsc. Never even plugged it in. I'm looking to trade it for a cool head. Sunn, acoustic 370, old Peavey. I'm thinking some kind of solid state. Something along those lines. I'm willing to do any combination of head, head + cash, head & cab. I'm trying to expand to a dual rig. Not to mention I need a backup. Thanks guys.

Bought myself a Trinity Reverb (again) and one of of those new DC Bricks for my PT Mini. Really GASing for the Minifooger Delay too but would have to get a bigger board.

just wanted to thank you Skip for doing the demo if the Quantum Mystic man…that demo sounded awesome, it was exactly the kind of tone i wanted to know if that pedal could put out.

Long time no see doombros. Dadhood is keeping me hella busy. Haven't played my guitars plugged in in weeks, but do get to play the acoustic for the little girl sometimes. My family got me a PT Jr and a Zap Machine for Christmas, so hopefully I will be able to check it out with some volume in the next few days.

Anybody tried the joyo powersupply? Looks like a knockoff fuel tank/power brick kind of thing. Allegedly isolated outs. The reviews are generally favorable and the price is definitely right ($60). Any thoughts?

If they're T-Rex clones then they're nothing special. The T-Rex power supplies are not the best, I found. I've had two and although the red one was useful and relatively quiet, it wasn't practical for me and I replaced it with a Chameleon. That was a decision I regret. I found it noisy and didn't appreciate how easy the dip switches were to accidentally knock. My Cioks DC-10 is way quieter and feels more rugged. I don't think the T-Rex has properly isolated outputs, or it could have been something ekse causing the issues. I can't put it under my board or else it's ridiculously noisy. I sit it back as far as the cables can go and then raise it with a packet of strings. It's stupid but there are only a few positions that remove the noise. Other people have had similar problems. Avoid the Chameleon. Pay that bit more for a Cioks or get a second-hand PP+.

The most common frustration I have on CL is sellers who don't list any contact info, and who don't respond to the encrypted or whatever email. Do you want to sell this shit? Have you ever been anally raped over the telephone? If you answer Yes to the first question and No to the second, then POST A FUCKING NUMBER.

Yeah, same. My Strat has ancient strings, but it holds its tune beautifully and it makes me feel happy, so I don't change them. My Guild, then, has newer strings and sounds more alive with that bring 'twang'. They're also thicker strings so it helps balance things out a bit.

I'm fine with dead bass strings, but thuddy guitar strings fekkin blow. They change the way all pedals and amps respond, too drastically. Plus no spank, no sustain!

Does anyone know if running a MV amp with the MV dimed and controlling the volume with the preamp control eats through powertubes? Basically running a MV like a NMV? I'd like to try it, but I'm afraid my tubes will bite the dust before I really get to figure it out.

That's how I ran all my MV amps before I went to just all NMV. Tubes might get a bit more wear but as long as you are biasing them correctly and they are made to handle the voltage the amp is shooting at them (or whatever the correct term for that would be), you should be okay. Also comes down to how often you play. A good set of tubes, correctly biased, will have good longevity given the situation you described. However, I'm not sure which tubes made today are considered "good." My V4 went through JJ's and Ruby's in under a year each but took some old Sylvania's for much longer after that. And that's when I was cranking that thing every other day and touring. But don't take my word, maybe someone else with more technical experience will chime in.

Has anyways heard or have any experience with Roller Sound Cabs by any chance? Been looking for a company to shoot an email about a custom build and ran into them after seeing a few Scott Shriner posts. Maybe someone has seen YOB lately? I think they use a few of their bass cabs.

Thanks, the tubes are a little over a year old and were installed by a tech who gave me the ratings for the set. Supposedly I should be able to buy pairs rated for the same amount and replace the tubes without having to rebias the amp.

At least there was the chance to see Neurosis. They don't seem to play away from Cali too often now, at least not within driving distance of where I live. They're one of the groups that's still on my bucket list. I'm probably halfway through it by now though.
