My acoustic is tuned CGCEbGD which open is like a Cm9?
I've been fairly obsessed with that tuning since I've discovered it so I'll say that chord.

not necessarily the C, but i concur about major 7th variations, and stacking fifths like the add9OddKnowledge wrote:Cmaj7 and Cadd9 i'm not sure why. they just sound so..... chordy.

(plus minor 7ths of course, that goes without saying)

Re: Which is your favorite chord?
"Extra A"
First, you have to be tuned to Aenstandard (DADAAE)
"Extra A" you just fret on the seventh fret of both D strings, so your chord is AAAAAE. Except don't because you will just sound like my song "Lucky" and we're almost done recording it so just be patient.
(Obviously, you can change tunings, use the same fretting position, and play "Extra G" or "Extra E")

It's all about context. For instance, I like C minor in the progression C Cm G... but all by itself it's pretty vanilla

Re: Which is your favorite chord?
I think it'd be an Am7add9? I'm not an expert on chord names really, but in standard tuning I play low-high 5-3-5-4(0-0) B and high E strings optional. It sounds so melancholy, I love that.
