so my main axes recently have been two custom benfords with unfinished rose wood necks. i fucking love them. i have this american strat with a one piece maple neck that i love however since playing the customs, the back of the neck feels all funny and stuff. is it safe/recommendable to sand that shit. make it feel nice and woody and make it sound more resonant? or would it ruin the awesome neck. fuck resaleability. this thing has been my bitch for awhile, never selling it.

Get you some fine (00-000) steel wool and have at it. I've found that getting even just the very top coat off helps a lot, and gets rid of that dragging/sticky feeling.
