Those $120 Epiphone les Pauls with p90s sound great. Those p90s are ridiculous and full. I'd never replace them.

I have an epiphone les paul DC junior, which is a similarly cheapo beginner epi. It's such a badass guitar and the p90(only has one) is so great sounding.Bellyheart wrote:Those $120 Epiphone les Pauls with p90s sound great. Those p90s are ridiculous and full. I'd never replace them.

I bought one of these a few years ago for $150, it looked like this.Fuzzy Picklez wrote: However, 90s japanese made Ibanez Talmans! Amazing! Usually under 500 too, Get 'em while you still can.

It was a really cool guitar. Noiseless P-90s that sounded decent (PS especially great for downtuned high gain shit, because they're so clear and quiet), good trem system. Unfortunately the neck was a little small for my hands so I always felt cramped playing it. I sold it, but I still kind of wish I hadn't for some reason, because it was fun. If you like smaller necks they're fine guitars.

I recently bought a new Sterling JP70 from Musicians Friend for $460! The six string version was also available, if you'd prefer that.
Basically all I did was wait for a holiday (father's day in this case), since MF usually runs 20% off deals for holidays. The matte black finish was about $100 cheaper than the other trans finishes, so I got that, and after the discount code, it worked out to be about $460. Incredibly well-built guitar for the price range, even if you are paying full retail price. Feels incredible and sounds pretty damn good. Actually not too far off from the actual Music Man JPMs.

The pickups are surprisingly awesome.

anyone ever buy one of those Tradetang guitars? I've heard the bodies and necks are decent, and if you swap the electronics/pickups you're all set.

yeah, and on the mascis the tailpiece is moved closer to the bridge, the pickups are different, it has larger frets and 9.5 radius, satin neck finish... they're pretty different guitars.theavondon wrote:Tuneomatic bridge.

i just traded away a tradetang bassVuvuzela wrote:anyone ever buy one of those Tradetang guitars? I've heard the bodies and necks are decent, and if you swap the electronics/pickups you're all set.
it was built well and sounded good
problem was the truss rod nut got wedged in hole
probably tricked a torque gun at factory
so there was never tension
it was a set neck
with a joint at the third fret
i guess from bein bowed for so long
the two peices became off plane with each other
if they ever were
so it was more of poor quality control than bad build
having that for a bit
i would buy a tradetang guit if i had the opportunity
id wanna see it first
but so would everyone right
