Replacement necks

Post by Fuzzy Picklez »

So I've been trying to sell my bass for a while, and since it hasn't been selling, and I don't really want to sell, I think I might just replace the neck. It's an old Ibanez fretless tele bass. It's great, but I am laughably bad at fretless. I just don't get it. However, ascetically, and sonically it's everything I want in a bass. So I figure why not just throw a new neck on, and keep the old one in case I ever want a fretless one day. :idk:

However, I'm not sure who to go with for a neck. I only paid $300 for the bass, and money is tight at the moment, so if I can't find one for cheap enough it will either have to wait, or I'll figure something else out.

I want just a plain maple neck and fretboard to match the bass. Ideally, I'd LOVE black block inlays, but I know those are expensive.

I have played a number of warmoth necks, (my tele has one) and have always liked them, but I want to know who else makes good replacement parts.

Any suggestions friends?

tl;dr Need simple tele bass neck that slays on the cheap. Help?

I know All Parts and Warmoth offer maple/maple tele bass necks. Personally I'm a huge fan of USACG but since they're not licensed by Fender they can't cut Fender-shaped headstocks (I THINK, although if I got one of their necks I wouldn't want that).

There are a couple All Parts neck's for $180 ish on ebay right now. That's gonna be the cheapest way to get frets on the neck of your guitar. Getting your current neck fretted would be $500 ish.

I just checked and it doesn't look like it.

No idea. I would do that. I suppose I can ask around.

Looks like it's not to hard to find a maple neck, but if I want block inlays I'm really gonna pay for them. Ouch.
