Guitar: muff muff muff. I have a v4 op amp that I love. I kind of want a clone built so I can use the og less to preserve its life.....

I have a tricked out ssstampede and rat clone being built so we'll see where I'm at in a month or so.
I'm probably selling my IC Muff clone, let me know if you want it.

The Fuzzhugger(fx) Bass (or Algal for you treble people) Bloom was the fuzz sound I'd had in my for years. The only way it's being replaced is if Tom somehow makes it better.

Nooope, it's not a muff. I'm pretty sure it's based on a Fuzz Face that's been tweaked a bunch but i can't remember....
I know it's not a muff, though.

I can't find it but Brian has said that it was his take on a Black (maybe) Muff that his bassist used, he went to town on it and created the TAFM based off that pedal... :idk: I'm sure someone can confirm or deny this...

I'm preeeetty sure soni is right about this, I remember an interview where he said it. At this point it's a massive departure from any muff but I think that's how it started.

Out of college, Brian started a stint with the band, “Bon Savants.” Brian noticed band’s bass player using an old green Big Muff, a splitter pedal, and a few other knick-knacks to get his tone, which seemed a bit much to fiddle with. So, Brian suggested a single box with a few tweaks to get the desired sound. After some tinkering and adding a clean blend control, the first iteration of what would become the “Team Awesome! Fuzzmachine” was complete. It sounded phenomenal.

I always though TAFM was the grandfather of HAWK which is based on a fuzz face ciscuit.
I though HAWK was the silicon little son of the devilish germanium TAFM.

I do remember that being the inspiration for the TAFM, but I specifically remember Brian expressing his hatred for muffs when I was in his shop. I remember him posting on here about it being derived from a different circuit (99% sure it was a FF), I'll do some digging and see if I can find that post.

oh also do enjoy some fuzzface action with a strat

dont mind the bosstone too

quite dig nasty stuff like fy-2

do we count rats and hm-2s as fuzzes too?

I'm not arguing but he told Shep the same thing, I know it's not a Muff and Bri could hate Muffs but that was the "inspiration" or whatever...
Speaking of the TAFM, how did that design come about?

"The bassist in my band at the time (Bon Savants) was using a splitter pedal and (I believe) Russian Big Muff for his main sound and wanted to simplify his rig. I told him I would undertake the task, but didn't want to necessarily clone the stuff he already had as I was more interested in creating something new. There was a little back and forth after I initially started working on it, but for the most part he trusted me and if I'm not mistaken, after all of these years he's still using the same pedal."

Muff sound like distortion to me... so no muff and no vintage stuff.
the fm-2 into a rams head sounds real fcking broken. it adds these suboctaves when playing 4ths and all this other shit when playing any chord. this is my new favorite sound.

I really want to get my hands on an fy-2. any good on bass?

but I still use the bluebeard more than anything.
