Jimmy Behan Selmer Buzz Tone. less agressive buzz fuzz from the mid 60s. staple of syd barrett's sound.

60s Conn Multi-vider. octave up, octave down, 2 octave down, bright/dark settings with individual volume controls. Similar to the mutron octive divider that followed.

70s Jen Super Double Sound wah/fuzz. Has a vox v816 distortion booster circuit. The v816 is basically the same circuit as the fuzz face and tonebender mk 1.5, but was released before the fuzz face and around the same time in 66 as the tb mk1.5.

The Jen's vox v816 fuzz circuit sure spreads the buzzy goodness like wildfire.

I mainly bought this early 70s Jen Super Double Sound for the v816 fuzz, which sounds frickin awesome with its vortex of fuzz/sustain and is a dead ringer for a vintage dallas arbiter fuzzface. but the wah, wOw this is one of the finest I've ever used. jen made the legendary vox wah's so i guess it only makes sense.

Oh boy, another mid 60s fuzz. this time the selmer buzz tone built so nicely by jimmy behan. Compared to the other early fuzz pedals this one is more rich and textured with some serious low end, rather than buzzy and aggressive. Behan added a toggle to add the fuzz. maybe safe to call this a dirty od/boost. if you like syd barretts tone this pedal along with Selmer amps were the foundation.

And i got to spend some time with the conn multi-vider. wOw what a cool peal. originally designed for horn players, it came with a mic for attaching to the horn. So, the only input is a 3.5mm one. luckly i have patch cables for my synths that have a 3.5mm on one end and a 1/4" on the other which worked. phew plugged straight in with my silvertone and its low output pickups i didn't get any response. So i swapped guitars with a strat and But only on the low E string at best. So i put an od in front and finally. Playing glissando it tracks perfectly, also a hard hit for playing solo lines it tracks well, when it mistracks it sort of waterfall argeggio for a few notes and cuts off.

The coolest thing I like is that you can combine octave up and octave down, or octave up and 2 octave down, or all three together . Each has its own volume control so you can dial in whatever you mix you want. And I noticed that the different voices seemed to mistrack at different points creating a cool cacophony of kickass. The main volume is connected to a bright/dark switch that is really quite the contrast. the dark doesn't sound muffled or rolled off, and the bright doesn't drop the bottom.

One sweet score for the home team. I pushed it with all the dirt the overdrive had and it just sounded that much cooler. Going to hook this up to a phaser and medium dirt drive.

features of note are the
FB NOISE: On/Off adjusts the amount of feedback in the circuit for noise making. Creates a weird octave mod fx.
x1000 Stomp: This takes your sound through an addition 2 transistor gain stages and pushes the electrons way past 11! The booster switch adds a loud and dirty, thrash crunch to this versatile pedal. Incredible for feedback noise and FX textures. Can cause the parasitic frequency oscillation but sounds awesome while playing.

Here's a sweet vid of the standard Electron fuzz. Just doesn't have the feedback circuit, or hi/low cut of the custom. This is some good shit. so happy with this one.

if i had the time, the 4ms kits are so inexpensive i'd love to build them all. still havn't had a chance to plug in the swash yet but i'm pretty excited to try it with guitar. bought it mostly for my synth set up though.

RML's website is like a wet dream of retro looking pedals and I want them all just based on looks . I played an Electron awhile back and was really impressed with its various gain stage stacking or whatever you call it. lots of nasty in this one. the feedback control is just nuts with the everything maxed its a noise machine.

So I got to play....i got to run my guitar signal through the 4ms noise swash. so many textures are locked inside that beautiful box. Thing is for me this is a knob twister, although I did dial in some angelic sounds and used the pedal on/off for that....but that's not what this pedal is all about. This pedal is an instrument. Going to be perfect for those gigs when I'm playing guitar sitting at a table using its top as my pedal board. easy access to the goods. Played really nice with an oto biscuit, and with moogerfoogers. This pedals been around awhile so you probably already know what it sounds like and aren't bothering to read this, but it useless to try and describe the audible destruction it's capable of. is good

Well it was fun, there were laughs and tears were shed...but time to cut the shit and see what's what.

The Jen Super Double Sound wah-wah/fuzz pedal has the the gnarliest fuzz of the lot, and that includes the noise swash. I just can't get over how aggressive and delicate it is at the same time. Very responsive to volume control and picking/fingering technique. Originally the fuzz circuit, the '66 vox v816, was just a litle box with an on/off switch and a 1/4" jack to plug into your guitar. similar in form to the jordon boss tones that followed in 68. From what i've read this circuit was basically the same as the dallas arbiter fuzz-face and mk1.5 tonebender,only the vox v816 hit the market first. And for whatever reason it sounds even better than those legends, to me. This fuzz is heavier than a death in the family, its huge. Add the classic vox wah-wah and we have the champion.


that gas has me wanting just the v816....
