Fuzzhugger Pedal help

Post by fungalattack »

So i got this ole fuzzhugger effects - the fuzzhuger. I let my friend borrow it and she returned it to me with the dc power jack broken... oh ya just hate to see it. I bought a replacement and I am having trouble getting it to work again. I soldered it in but maybe I am not connecting at the right lugs. When I plugged it into the adapter initially, the light came on for a second and then turned off. Any advice??

I can't tell from the pictures which of the spots on the board are going to ground or power. How did you friend break the dc jack?

I'm not sure for certain, but I'm assuming she placed it on top of the amp and it flew down to the ground breaking the plastic which made the dc jack fall into the enclosure.

So the pedal doesn't work at all right? Or just the LED doesn't work?
The LED turning on for a second, then going out sounds like reverse polarity. Which would mean you should send it to Tom.

the led does not turn on and the pedal is not engaged. Just clean or silence. If I cant figure it out, I shall send it to Tom.

Follow the traces from the two points on the pcb you have connected to the dc jack. You should be able to find out pretty quickly whether your wired it backwards or not. If you did, it's fried (a part or two that is).

I'm gonna go with you wired the DC jack backwards. The power connects right next to the Level control, and the lug on the right of that pot (looking at the back with the lugs down) would be ground, and it makes no sense for the pad right next to it to be +. Swap the wires at the DC jack and it'll probably work.
