CL Deal of the century.

Post by greenlegs »

OK.
Pardon my excitement.

I just bought a

Fender Jaguar (made in Japan and 50th anniversary sticker on back of headstock so 1996?) AND
Fender Musicmaster Bass (made in USA)

for

$188 total!!!!!!

Some idiot wrote all over the Jaguar with a sharpee, and it definitely needs some work done to it.
The bass is in way better shape and probably just needs to be setup and have the pickup adjusted.

I'm pretty psyched!

I'll post pics in a little while

I am so jealous right now that I felt that I needed to post saying that.

THAT IS AN AWESOME SCORE.

So, the jag needs help, the mm too.
The bass pickup is obviously not original along with the pickguard.
I don't think it should cost me too much to get them both up and running.

Oh yea, the Jag is 1996 or 1997,
and the MusicMaster is 1977 or 1978.

Anyone have any suggestions on getting the marker off of the jag? :picard:

IDK... I think the writing looks kind of neat myself......

But what the hell does it say?

Maybe some type of nail polish remover or isopropyl alcohol? IDK what that might do to the finish, though.

I'm assuming it's lyrics to songs. I can't make out all of it, but it's pretty funny

Here's a little:
"The Useless Dawn of a Mother's Day. The meaningless lies of a scared little boy."

Mostly shit like that.
I can't read most of it though.

I tried lighter fluid and kerosene. Not working.
The lacquer is coming off in places, and you can see that the sharpie is stained through into the finish, so I probably won't be able to get it off unless I get it refinished I'm guessing.

Aww man. That would've been sweet.

By the way, my wife is from the Netherlands. We're planning on moving over there sometime next year. I love that country. Where do you live?

Just leave the marker. Adds character. You'll wind up ruining the paint before you get it off anyway.

Nice score. I was expecting it to look a lot worse but that writing doesn't really bother me, looks kinda subtle and done with some thought. I would probably keep it as is.

I think the writing looks kind of cool.

I say sand it down and refinish it. Or just leave it natural and seal it with a gloss coat!

Epic win.

You could try to goo gone the marker, but I don't know what it'll do to the finish.

and if all else fails, you can give it to me

The writing actually looks kinda neat. If they're crappy song lyrics but you can't read em who cares! :joy: Nice scores.

Nice score...even if they are beaters.

That kinda sounds like a bastardized version of "Here Is No Why".
There are some that call me...morningstaru?
