Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
i played a 5150 for years, but as i understand, the 5150 iii is a completely different amp than the peavey version. the regular 5150 is great in certain aspects, although probably not the best for doom or for pedal enthusiasts. i've never heard of anyone who i give a shit about (other than evh himself, i guess) playing a 5150 iii. nor have i ever known anyone who has owned one. i wouldn't have much faith in it personally. go play it though, who knows? for what it's worth though, 50 watts may be a bit much for home use too. if you're not playing with drummers, and don't have a practice space, may as well get something much lower wattage to play at home with. hold on to the big amp for when you start another band.

an amazing man...check out this speech below, the man was brilliant.AxAxSxS wrote:To Nelson, our brother, you will be missed.
"This then is what the ANC is fighting. Their struggle is a truly national one. It is a struggle of the African people, inspired by their own suffering and their own experience. It is a struggle for the right to live. During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Ya know man, I think a pocket amp might be a better way to go. 5 watts or so. I want to echo the "keep the big amp for next band" comment. Get something tiny for tones at low volume and have fun with it. Hang on to the amp you like.
Now of course if you go play it and fall in love< by all means go for it. I just hate seeing people regret gear they no longer have.
As for Nelson, just an amazing human being. I'd encourage anyone not familiar with the history there to go take a look. I recently watched one of the Anthony Bourdain shows where he was in south africa. truly amazing how the country has changed for the better. Some inspiring shit for the rest of us to aspire to indeed. Night and day from my impression of the place growing up to what is going on there now.

Agree on Nelson Mandela comment...only when you research what he's done do you realise how great he was. I know there has been a lot amazing people in the past...but there's something much stronger in his story and what he had to overcome compared to the other greats of our time.AxAxSxS wrote:Ya know man, I think a pocket amp might be a better way to go. 5 watts or so. on the amp front...i do like a decent wattage amp, just because i think they sound better than smaller amps even at low volumes...and although i do like the Laney a lot, it isn't anything special that i cant find again, and to be honest if i go for a 100w amp again, i would go for the GH100 rather than the Ironheart. Since having the Ironheart I've discovered i prefer simplicity (ie 5 or 6 knobs) and i prefer to get my dirt from pedals rather than the amp...the other problem...which is probably the biggest gear acquisition blocker i have is space! The flat i live in is way too small to have a few amps and guitars etc...i've had to reduce my gear of the last year considerably since i lost my man-room became my little son's room.

the 6 button midi lets me do things like turn off and on each pedal, make patches and combinations of the 4 pedals. Also access the different features that the Strymon pedals offer such as freeze or infinite mode on the Bigsky. Most importantly it can turn both moogs on and off simultaneously. I can also sync their delay times

As a Learned man, I had already deduced.
Gentlemen such as myself know these sorts of things.
If there is no black goop inside, you are robbing yourself of all of the toanz. All of them.
