I'm just going to mutate this thread into someplace where I can hope people will see it when I have an issue come up.
First: I goofed when I glued some tuneomatic thimbles into the body of a guitar because they weren't fitting tight enough. Now I can't properly attach the ground wire to them
It's a jazzy style body, basically. If I can't find a way to ground to the trem, can I just mount a piece of metal in there somewhere to ground to, or what?

I'd drill a hole from the trem cavity to the pickguard one and run the wire that way, just wedge the end between the body and the trem plate. Or run some conductive tape, like that foil stuff they use for air conditioners, from the electronics to the trem plate. It only needs to be a small strip. If you can't ground the strings via the bridge or trem it's gonna be no fun.

You can buy super long drill bits at hardware stores, but it's something that you won't use very often. It's kind of haphazard, but I've done it by making the bit stick out as far as possible and drilling halfway through from one side, halfway from the other. It isn't a perfectly straight hole, more like two connecting tunnels, but it works out alright.

the 90 degree dremmel attachment can work well for this depending on the size of the control cavity. lets yo set the angle where you want it to be.
