Pretty sure Decibill had one and liked it (he's my bandmate) - I think it's still on his board, but we've been recording for so long, I can't recall what's where anymore.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I had one a while ago and miss the fuck out of it. Best EQ on any muff I've played, and I've played a fair amount. High gain but can stay relatively tight on the low end. Run a boost or another fuzz into to it to make more sludgey.

If I were you I'd do it but I don't know what sounds you are looking for.

Im looking for doomier sorts of tones. Something that had more mids available than the fz-2 would be nice too

i had one for a bit when they first came out. it was pretty cool, but it wasn't my favorite muff variant. the eq was pretty good on it. i prefer the pharaoh/badascan as the champion of muff eq's. my favorite muffs are the pharaoh/badascan, the supercollider, and the hoof. my old civil war muff was fucking killer but i had to boost it with an odd to get the mids and cut that i needed, but it fucking ruled that way. i've owned all of those, the manx, a musket and a LSTR, which covers a lot of ground in the popular "muff variants with mids" category. of them all, the manx was probably my least favorite. not saying it's a bad pedal, i just bonded with the others more. i'm into the doomed tones too.

It will definitely give you more mids with the Bax tone stack as long as you aren't cranking the treble or bass. Definitely can do doom but for me it was kind of bright (I was much less experienced when I owned so that maybe could be changed). Pretty good for stacking too from what I remember.

I think that would be a really solid trade. Definitely will give you more mids and thickness than the FZ-2.

You should be fine with those 2 muffs... you can always stack more fuzz with the pharaoh if you require more thunder

This. The Manx is really cool but unnecessary with those other pedals coming in

jrmy is right....I had a Manx. Really nice pedal. Really good at what it does, but it lost out to some of my other Muffy pedals, simply because it wasn't "different" enough. I've been leaning toward Muff tones with more "crackle" and the Manx was too "smooth" for me.

I can't imagine that you'll have a need for the Manx with those two incoming. You'll be in a ripping muff heaven.

Should have written that better, i already have the Supercollider and love it. The pharaoh should be here in a day or 2 so really.....i have muffs covered, i doubt the Manx has more lowend than either of those nor is it as doom worthy

Haven't played a Supercollider but I think it is safe to say you are correct.
