was thinking of getting a small practice amp for the living room…i saw a few fender and peavey solid state bass combo's…and it got me thinking…if playing through those big solid state bass rigs sounds really good…does the same rule apply for combo's?
One day before a small little band jam session we realized that we had no bass amp present. We scrambled to the local music store where they were selling a Laney BC75 on consignment for $150. Called the owner and talked him down to $120. Turned it on and the volume pot was super scratchy. Called him back and get it for $100 which is probably a good, fair, Craigslist value. But it rocks pretty hard. Single 15", not sure what, didn't even bother opening up. We'll probably end up using it live with synths/oscilators/samples because it has DI.

Ultimately... No combo is gonna rock like a Beta Bass head or whatever, but for kicking out the sick bass riffs in your living room I'd say go for it. I'd probably go used though.

I do this sometimes. HM-2 on max into the Hughes & Kettner for that Dismember tone, then run the fuzz pedals into my Phil Jones. Sounds massive, but doesn't respond the way I would like. Bass combos are funny creatures, I remember a guitarist at a jam session getting some insane tones out of a Peavey TNT, though he was running some serious dirt before it.

Yeah, I picked up a Stone Deaf a PDF-1. I think it's also my first retail pedal purchase since last years Black Friday.

If I wasn't on a tight budget right now I'd be all over the Quantum Mystic. The want is strong with that one.

I've bought too much shit recently. And I really want that Zap Machine. But I really need a Quantum Mystic. This will likely not end well for my credit card.

Well... I ended up buying a BAT Coven to go with the new Ampeg. I'm not sorry, but I might be when rent is due. :p

Well done. The Ampeg loves both pedals and the new art on the coven I flat out sexy.
