Interesting. MXR has been putting out some sweet shit recently. You should check out the LA Machine - its a Foxx Tone Machine clone that they are only selling in the EU and Australia.

Been a long time since I've seen Fuzzbox Girl mentioned Pedal sounds cool, but it's one of those things where I like those tones when other people use them, but not when I use them.
In other news I have a SS/BS Mini that should be arriving on Wednesday. Pretty pumped about that.
I actually never likes the iron horse sounded kinda too fuzzy for my tastes. I now use my germanium rat wth double reutz woth moderate gain and volume with my moog delay drive knob slightly higher so it doesn't clip when I'm playing clean but starts clipping the second the rat is on. Sound massive and heavy even with my nocaster bridge pickup.
Complicated I know but at least black acid is just cranked all knobs at ten.
so here's another one to add to your list...just heard the new Visual Sounds distortion pedal called the Experimental Overdrive...it sounds pretty sweet...and seems to be very versatile, a little too versatile for my likings, but looks good none-the-less.

The mini is an amazing OD and far more versatile than the Mantra and grittier than the BF. A lot better high gain tones and smoother low gains tones, if you want really low gain OD though the mantra is hard to beat.
Rat's are always a good pedal to have, I really liked the Fuzzrocious Rat Tail I tried the other week. It had the most natural sound to me.

I felt like there wasn't much change in the Iron Pig's sound when I tweaked the settings, and there was a substantial loss of low end on all settings. None of these issues with the Rat Tail, plus the 2 clipping knobs are super helpful in sculpting the sound.
But the Iron Pig did have a pretty brash/intense vibe, so it could work for you!

I don't really notice any loss of of low end with the Iron Pig, but I do agree that the different clipping modes aren't really that different from one another. It also depends which amp I'm using. If I play it into my Concert Lead (basically a clean amp) it sounds a bit tinny and farty at times. Into my Beta Lead however, its all gravy. The Beta already has awesome sounding distortion built in but the pig adds another layer of color to it and blasts it into super mean territory.
Pedal sounds cool, but it's one of those things where I like those tones when other people use them, but not when I use them.
