Hear great things about the Fuzzrocious, haven't tried one sadly. The Earthbound Iron Pig is badass too if you can find one used. Like every RAT version in one box. Now days it's available as the Acid Pig, a slightly slimmed down version. Dunwich Nick has the Volt Thrower too, not sure if it's currently available tho...

EDIT: hollowhero beat me too it. And yeah, the Iron Horse is def RAT based.

check out the Systech Overdrive, from the 70s. It was systech's last od pedal before they folded. then the main guy at systech went on to start pro co rat. the rat is very very similar to it. i believe the circuit for the rat was going to be the next version of the Overdrive...just conjecture. anyways, it has the same three knobs as the rat, but the filter knob dials in and boost's a pretty narrow window. Just lots of interesting tones, it nails a cocked wah tone. pretty cool pedal. the od gets pretty serious too. think i read this was the first non fuzz, overdrive pedal in production. they pop up for very fair prices, and there are probably clones out there?

ProCo made a hot rodded Rat for a while (maybe they still make them?).

I had one and it sounded pretty decent, I forget which IC it came with stock but I changed it to an LM308 which worked out great. Essentially it's a Rat but the low pass filter was changed to a more standard high pass filter, it was true bypass, it had a scoop knob (unfortunately like the name suggests it can only cut mids, not boost them) and it had the clipping options of all three rat pedals so LED Turbo Rat, Germanium Dirty Rat and diodes from the original.

Pretty good for what cost the same as a regular Rat on ebay.

I've had the Iron Pig and did not keep it long. Did not find it easy to get a desirable tone,
Currently have a Rat King which is fuckin' awesome, much flexibility and sounds really nice.

The extra features on the Rat Kind are not necessary, but a second distortion setting can be nice to have.
Rat Tail/King rec all the way.

I'll also drop my vote in for the Rat Tail.
Can't say a bad thing about it. Some times I wish I had a Rat King with feedback loop and not a Demon King with feedback loop.

#1 is a pretty dang good one. Sounds really good alongside #41:
