8-bit bit reducing madness

Hi guys,

Need a little advice. I need my guitar to sound like some kind of atari nintendo nightmare noisy unstable fucked up computer hell beast.

The Devi Ever Bit fuzz is the first thing that comes to mind but what about co-pilot FX and mid-fi or any products I've missed?

I have an eye of god feedback looper if anyone know any bit crushing tricks with that. I don't give a damn about playability or stabilty. I want craziness and noise.

Thanks for your help. Bit crushing is not really my speciality!

Honestly I would take a look at the Mid-Fi Glitch Computer. When the tracking knob is probably about 2/3s up, it can do a really cool 8-bit tone, with some glitches thrown in, but not too crazy. Then as the tracking knob gets turned down, it gets completely unpredictable and bounces around like crazy. I suppose the Seppaku Sub Octave Synthesizer is probably in the same ballpark. I think those types of pedals get better 8-bit tones than true bit crushers. If you want a full-on bit crusher, there are quite a few to choose from, and we had a thread about it recently that I'm sure could be found with a search.

I've had my eye on the Digital Pitch Modulator by Seppuku FX... You can buy it from Tom at FuzzHugger, too.

Get one of those stupid Roland GTK pickup/Guitar synth doo-das (god, I actually REALLY want one...), use it to control a MIDINES cartridge, then put the NES's output through a Mid-Fi GC...

That's what I would be doing if I had a million dollars to blow... I'd also play drums and samples with my guitar!

I'm not helpful.

I really want a Glitch Computer, though.

You could check this out. It's a bit pricey, but it's the most legit bitcrusher I've ever seen. Custom built in Germany, I believe.

My first thought is Glitch Computer. The Devi Ever OK is a good addition to whatever 8 bit tones you have as well. Seppuku fx has some nifty stuff as well.

dba robot, wmd geiger counter (pricey but insane bit crusher), red panda bit crusher module thingy being sold here on the forums from one of our very own.

+1 on the Red Panda bitcrushing module - it's a Line 6 tonecore module, so you have to buy a tonecore dock for it, but it's a wicked cool little device. I've got one, and am really digging it. Envelope, LFO, crush... tons of variables to play with...

The Alesis ModFX Bitrman is also a bitcrusher style fuzz. I got mine cheap even after it was discontinued.

That helps a lot! Of course the WMD geiger counter looks absolutely amazing but it's waaaaaaaay too expensive!

The red panda product is very very intriging. Fascinating idea. Very tempting as there are loads of abandoned tonecore pedals in 2nd hand shops right now.

interesting advice. This is something I really hadn't considered. Is it the "stuttering decay" that makes this pedal useful?

I am of course always looking a Modfx Bitrman.....
