Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe

Post by el guapo »

I love love love my fix'd fuzz deluxe. It totally replaced my vintage maestro fz-1a. It's just too squealy and noisy. I love it for recording but I can't use it live. I'm so bummed about it. I've had two twosomes and now a fix'd fuzz. I think, sadly, I'll have to throw in the towel.

volume pedal at the end of your chain and you can cut all that out at will. use whatever squeely feedbacky stuff you want and control it completely

Hmm. I've never tried that. I don't have a volume pedal but I have a EHX HOG that can act as a volume pedal. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

I know what he mean... I had the old yellow ant version of the fix'd.
In a band situation, the fuzz was sucked by the bass player... It's probably a frequency thing.
The volume pedal trick might be good. Or maybe try to add some treble.

What do mids have to do with the fix'd fuzz deluxe squealing?

Adding mids helps you stick out in the mix. That's a helpful tip if I'm asking about how to get my fuzz out front in the mix. If i'm asking about a squealing pedal... not so much.

So, do you think the squealiness is being caused by some defect in certain pedals or do you think that's just the nature of the circuit?
