Master\MIDI Keyboard suggestions.

Post by Dramatis Persona »

Hi there.
I'm looking for a master keyboard for my ipad.
This will be my first master keyboard, I really don't know what I need.
I only know that I sold my Alesis Micron because I like ios synths more.
I'm looking for something with more than 37 keys (3 or 4 octaves),aftertouch will be a nice feature, maybe a synth action might be better (I don't play piano or EP); some knobs and sliders for filters and other synthy stuff, I don't need pads, I only need it for synths, organs and mellotron, so I don't need to much daw controls (with ipad I use my fingers) . The most important thing is that I'm looking for something solid, not made of shitty plastic.
I've felt in love with the Arturia Keylab (or the older the Laboratory), it looks beautifully, it's made of wood and metal, but someone says that the keys are fragile and shitty.

Thank you

It's got pads but the M-Audio Axiom 49 is solid and the keys feel good and it's pretty robust...

I've had a bunch of controllers over the years and this is my favorite, plus it's cheap for what you get...

The axiom could be a nice choice, it can be found for cheap in the used market, but I've read some complaints about the "blu screen of death". :?:

I too am an Axiom 49 owner - the mk1 version. I've heard a lot of complaints about it online, but I've never had a problem with mine. The semi-weighted keybed is the best I've ever had: fast enough for quick leads, but heavy and solid enough to be very expressive. My one minor grievance is that the pitch and mod wheels are a little too small for subtlety, at least for my clumsy hands, but it's never been much of an issue.
