Henry Kaiser's A Bunch of Guitar Solos ---not instructional, though. I wish I could find a copy of Eclectic Electric.

Gustav Assisi Brasil's book on Hybrid Picking

Tomo Fujita's "Advance Your Guitar Playing" is my go-to DVD these days.

Bill Edwards "Fretboard Logic" is my fave "method"

and good old blood sweat n tears.....and YOUTUBE.

you damn youngsters have it EASY these days.

back when i started, you had to take vinyl, and slow it down to 16 rpm to learn stuff

yes, youtube rocks! i've been working on developing my ear lately and trying to just listen and figure things out, but if there's ever something i'm stuck on... more often than not there's a video tutorial on youtube.

not to mention the technical lessons you can find there.

Just got Page Hamilton's (Helmet Geetarist) "Sonic Shapes". Watched a bit of it over noon hour. Looks like it could be really good. The guy has chops and likes to work from transcriptions of Coltrane and Miles stuff + an out of print book ("Super Chops") by the late former GIT instructor Howard Roberts.

He has also said that "Wire" is one of his favorite bands. That is very cool.

I like Paul Gilbert's dvds alot.He's a really cool guy and doesn't focus only shredding.

Ted Greene - Chordal Chemistry

Imagine knowing every chord in every position on the neck. Yeah I'm still trying to imagine that... but in the meantime Chordal Chemistry is pretty eye-opening.

Sheryl Bailey - The Chord Rules. An intermediate jazz instructional book that's full of really good, well-organized ideas.

Bret Willmott - Mel Bay's Complete Book of Harmony, Theory & Voicing. Basically walks you through bajillions of mechanical drop 2 voicings, tensions and substitutions.
