The actual medical term is "Bacon Lung."

Yes, kinda. H1N1/09 is the new strain of influenza A. It's an RNA virus, so the replicase has no proofreading capability and it mutates more quickly than something with a DNA genome. What we're seeing now is that the swine influenza A and human influenza A viruses have hybridised, so it's an unknown quantity. Historically, zoonotic infections like this are often very virulent -- viruses tend to evolve toward lower virulence the longer they're associated with a particular host.
Wizard wrote:my best friends father who happens to be a doctor said that now is not the time to get the swine flu vaccine, because it's not developed to its fullest capabilities and was released to calm the public. :idk:
Deepak Chopra is an MD. I don't know what "not developed to its fullest capabilities" means, but vaccine production procedures are pretty straightforward.
Wizard wrote:if it's not swine flu, i'm probably immune to it by now.
Unlikely, possible but unlikely. If you were around in 1963, you might have antibodies to some of the epitopes which might give you immunity. These viruses mutate and evolve so fast because the error rate in replication is so high. Same with the cold, which is why you get them year after year.
