EXH multiplexor vs. Boss OC2

Post by osbornkt »

Which is better as far as tracking goes? Both only track somewhat accurately monophonically, right?

I'll be using it out of my stereo tele for a "bass" channel, if that gives any further insight to my intent.

But yeah...there's a $40 EXH Octave Multiplexor on the local CL...Worth it?

For $40? Snag it.

If you don't like it... :poke:

I've owned the POG, POG2, MicroPOG, OC2, OC3, Octave Multiplexer, and the Digitech Harmony Man. Out of all of those the Multiplexor is my favorite. It's glitchy as hell but there's something about the sound it creates that is so unique and warm. Highly recommend it. Turn the sub switch on, dime both the octaves and then keep the blend knob below 11 o'clock. It helps to run it as early in the chain as possible, too. Enjoy.

Okay, but today is Tuesday & you're getting it Friday. Knock on wood, but I hope it doesn't get sold before then and I hope you get it. THere have been many times on CL when I've been told my pedal is being held for me and it's gone before I get to it :hello:

Yeah, same here...I called the guy and he took it off CL while we were talking. Think he's a fair dude. Fingers crossed!

You're a good man.

I've got an OC2 and while it is glitchy and monophonic, it is still a sick pedal. Works much better on guitar (just because it is hard to track really low notes).
If the Multiplexor is similar, which from demos it sounds relatively similar, you should be able to make it work fine on a stereo setup. It would add depth and fill out the sound. And the glitch is half of the fun!

Not a problem, sir!
It seems like it should work fine on this setup...Just need to find how it sits with the "bass" board. But I mean for $40 it's not a huge deal if it doesn't track perfectly.

No problem. If you end up not digging it, I'd trade you my Boss OC3 for it. It has a seperate Bass input, a guitar input and then stereo outs. It has a polyphonic mode for better tracking, an OC2 mode(which I prefer tonally) and a drive mode which adds its own gain into the circuit. It's a sweet pedal but I prefer the glitchy wacky sounds of the multiplexer.

Multiplexer sounds good but the one I tried out (XO series) had a noticeable volume drop. See if you can try it out first.

I didn't gel with the OM.

Looks like the Slammi tracks really well. I kinda have gas for one.

The slammi seems to have the inability to be attached to a board on any sort of practical permanent basis and it also hits a price point where it would be worth it to me to just spend the scratch on a new Whammy V instead for the more practical aspects.
