I think I want the m13...I like having all those knobs. Something bothers me about having only 1 set on the m9. But the space savings are
I think the m9 is really catching on with the purists, I'm seeing a lot of them on boards these days. We'll see if they last, but judging by the featureset I think they will.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

my only really skepticism about this is that HCFX people seem to be cottoning to the M9. i really like to shy away from stuff that they use or hype-up.

other than that i am sure it is a great multi-FX & if i didn't already have a whole bunch of other gear purchases lined up i would probably get it becuz i have been considering getting a second multi-FX for quite some time (i was going to get teh RP155...)

maybe when the HCFX hype dies down & they start getting bored w/ it. then that's when i will buy it. i think it is interesting that you said that it has already negated/supplanted your Empress Superdelay.

Can the M9 do the same crazy effects as the memory boy?

That's it. I'm quitting pedals and putting all my assests into R&D for the Joke Detector.

I had never seen the M9 before. Usually Line 6 is so far off my radar. I like the looks of it. Could be nice for running delay/verb/looper after the Nova System. Looks sort of elegant for Line 6. I like the fact that it has midi. Can the looper be synced to tempo and/or tempo synced to the looper?

NewarkWilder wrote:yeah i've always looked down my nose at the entire POD line etc... seriously. That is one of the reasons I'm so energized by this--it really caught me by surprise. I was pretty much expecting to return it for a refund straight-away. But... nope. Its a keeper, for sure.

I even hated the Verbzilla I owned for a while--yet here I am raving about the M9's halls and plates. Why? Cause they clearly put a lot of work into making everything better.

I'm as surprised as anybody. And that is awesome. :joy:

I don't know much about the JM4 except it seemed like a big flop when it came out... too much focus on stupid crap like backing tracks etc and not enough on just making a great looper. To me the DL-4 looper was nearly perfect because it was just so damned easy to use and you could do a lot of cool stuff with it. Everything that was good about the DL-4's looper remains intact in the M9, plus the much needed undo/redo function and extended looping time. Plus you can load whatever effect you want from the entire unit to use along with your loop... record a layer, load up another effect, etc etc. If thats your bag anyway. I haven't been doing that a whole lot but I will probably dig deeper into it soon.

I can't stress enough how much I've always hated Line 6. I would never say people who use pods and such aren't "real guitarists" but I'd definitely have been the first to say they were ones with relatively bad taste in gear, lol. The M9 is in a totally different league though, and clearly aimed at people like me. Well, they did their homework and delivered a product somebody like me would go way the fuck out on a limb here and gush over like this.

@ devi-- I still love ya, always will, but that post really caught me off guard this morning and I didn't react particularly well to it. In the end I don't really give a fuck what anybody thinks about it as long as its making me happy, I just think you may have pre-judged something based on the history attached to it... and given that we're talking about Line 6, I totally understand that. In all honesty though, I really do think this is something that if you tried you would fall in love with. Or not, whatever. I've just seen enough crap fired off at you about just building "noisemakers" and not "real" guitar pedals, you know? So I was a little bit shocked to see a bit of that same thing coming out of you. Whatever though--its your loss if you write it off completely, and I'll be here having a shitload of fun with mine making some great music with it. You're clearly very happy with your own musical situation right now and I'm happy for you for that. To each his/her own.

Not buying something because its hyped on Harmony Central doesn't make any sense. :picard: That is paying way too much attention to Harmony Central and its hype. :poke: I just ignore crap like that.

You buy or don't buy something based on whether it can do the job you need it to do or not! :wow what a fantastic idea you have there:

naw. well maybe. i am not getting it basically becuz i have a few other gear purchases lined up & i have to stay FIRM. plus. it is alwayz interesting to watch the ARC of the hype discussion. then wait and get said piece of gear for a decent used price when the market becomes glutted & everyone wants to get rid of it move on to the next hyped piece of gear.

basically i wanted to get two Multi-FX, an AE & SP-AE and a Kaoss Mini & have that be my "noise set-up" & pair that w/ a cheap laptop running like Pure Data or Bidule or something.

w/ the Empress Superdelay. i mean i was really attracted to that Octave Up feature. i bet that w/ say a Nashville tuning, that would be really fun. i'm sure the M9 does an Octave Up delay, so i am wondering what other features does teh Line 6 M9 have that really makes it stand-out; to me, that is the real attraction w/ multi-FX: are the features really unique? can you get really weird ass shit & strange modulation out of the multi-FX as opposed to stand-alone pedals.

also Newarkwilder tell me more about these "scenes." !!!

Speaking of Eventide have you compared the looper on the M9 to the one on the Eventide Timefactor?

Traditionally Line6 has crippled their floor fx in regards to synching with an external clock / vice versa (They save it as a feature for the rack mount "pro" line).

Well what-do-ya-know... looks like updated the M13 for this feature and the M9 comes shipped ready to synch

http://www.line6.com/community/thread/1 ... 4CDA4BDC90

Yeah... definitely considering getting these for vocal effects!

Cool that it will sync to midi.

I wish they would do a cut down version that was just delay/reverb/looper. Does anybody think digital dirt sounds good?

i agree. maybe i should have worded it a bit better. but i agree w/ what you are saying & is essentially my (utilitarian) gear philosophy: does it do the job !!!

Haven't used a Memory Boy... what does it do exactly that is "crazy"? My guess though is yes, plus a lot more.

Well, Memory Boy can do crazy octave jumping vibrato delay and stuff like that. Best check out a video of it. The newer Memory Boy has an effects loop which kind of excites me - you could put a Silver Crank in the effects loop and have fuzzy stuttering delays, that'd be amazing. If the M9 can do that I'll get it.
