I don't know ... I'm still not sure about my Line 6 Pod XT Live. The effects just don't sound analog enough to me. :idk: The versatility is there but it just sounds too digital. I definitely like the prospect of spending $400 for 2k worth of effects. Analog effects add up fast!

But they REALLY stepped it up with this. Its already allowed me to sell enough pedals to pay for it twice over, and I keep expecting to run into something with it where I'm like "oh... well, fuck, there is the catch, i knew there would be one."

but so far, there hasn't been. :excellent:

Alright, I'll check it out and see how it differs effect wise from the XT Live. I'll keep an open mind for now!

I've seen some big name peeps in GW with some multi-fx in their boards! :idk: I guess they're not 'real' guitarists. Definitely not purists though.

Someone buy Devi a Magicstomp or M9 for her birthday. I bet she'd love it.

POG or one of the EHX Vocoders would be awesome for vocal effects(especially if you're trans ohoho).

I love the way The Battles use pitch shifted vocals in "Atlas".

i've never liked the Line 6 stuff I've tried (Have not tried an M9) but I am really liking the TC Nova System for mod and delay. :bob:

Is the looper in it pretty much the same as the JM4 Standalone Looper?

I've been wanting to get a really good looper. Midi would be nice.

I know many pros are using the looper function in the DL4. Andrew Bird springs to mind as somebody who uses it well.

NewarkWilder wrote:Honestly devi I thought you were above the name calling. You've known me long enough to know how hard I've worked to become the best guitar player I can be. I guarantee you, were you to get one, you'd be raving about it too. Its the first multi-fx unit on the market that actually pulled everything together just right. Great effects, awesome looper, no amp modeling bullshit.

Earlier tonight I was playing with my regular board into the M9, pumping my new Sodameiser through reverse delay, a binson echorec delay mode, and some incredibly beautiful plate reverb. Then I wrote a new progression for a song with the looper. Then I ran my entire rig in stereo with panning phase, trem, and ping-pong delay. after that I pulled out the Shoegazer and buried it underneath 3 different kinds of reverb. At some points I was creating some of the best music I've ever made.

But despite all that, I guess I'm no longer a real guitarist. Fuck, what have I done. :whateva:

I'm not sure how this is any different than any of the other Line 6 moddlers. They're still using the same underlying technology. I had the POD and Podxt Live. That thing was terrible from a usability standpoint. I know the Mx series is better, but it still seem very limiting.

After my Line 6 experiences, I really just don't like the digital effects. I much prefer the analog. It's as stark a contrast as a tube amp vs. a solid state amp.

I've owned a MM-4, FM-4, and 2 DL-4's. I had an M13 for a bit (borrowed a friends), and they've upped their game. It's supposedly better than the M13 (was orignally) in terms of sound an everything else. I'm going to probably just get an M13 again. Couldn't afford it back then, and will hopefully soon.

And yea, alot of gearheads have done shootouts and said the m9 delivers. To each his own I suppose.

Congrats Newark on the good report! And whatever effects you choose don't make you any less of a "real" guitarist. Seriously who feels like dealing with wiring up pedalboards all the time. Not me. And I don't think Devi meant harm, just Devi bein Devi. :erm:

Still unsure. I know it's a great unit in theory, and digital effects can be near unmistakable, but it's based off the same stuff as the older Line 6 FX Stomp modelers which have a reputation for being a little on the "sterile" side compared to some more modern digital effects. If they've done something to the engine to improve it maybe it's better, but warmth with effects is made up of a lot of factors and won't apply to every effect equally; some can be near perfect, others not so much.

A tool is a tool is a tool. It's how you use it that counts.

And most of my favorite guitarists aren't real anyhow - they're all imaginary.
