Spring Reverb Pedal

Post by patrick »

I'm looking for a reverb pedal that will sound like my amp's spring reverb. I have a TC Hall of Fame, that sounds good, but not great; I find it really digital sounding. I was thinking maybe a EQD Ghost Echo? Any suggestions?

I don't know what kind of amp you use, but if you want The Fender Spring Reverb Sound, the FRV-1 does it. Other spring reverb emulations I've heard sound very good, but they aren't that sound. Not that I've heard them all.

Mine's a Music Man, so it might as well be a Fender reverb, yeah. I have heard good things about the FRV-1, and that was another one I was looking at (along with the Spring Chicken mentioned before). That said, I had the FDR-1 for a while, and that one was no good, so I'm a little wary of the Boss.

Yeah I heard the spring reverb on the FDR-1 wasn't very good, too. I figure they were probably trying to do too many things with that pedal to do any one of them right.

They really were. Having tremolo rate as tap tempo only? Ridiculous.

And yeah, the reverb on that one was super glitchy; if you had it anywhere past like 10:30, it would make those loud splashy "Vamos" sounds for, like, any note hit slightly harder than usual.

Hardwire Supernatural. It also has killer plate and shimmer modes.

I love my FRV-1. I use it with my vintage Epiphone amp so I can go back and forth between that ghostly Gibson reverb and splashy Fender.

I have to confess I'm proud as hell of that fact

I reeeeeaaaaaaallly dig the Subdecay Spring Theory. I used to have a Fender '63 RI reverb unit and this is close enough for me to not miss the real thing.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

This (or the regular RV-7). My favorite spring reverb pedal so far.

The Supernatural is what I use. I actually bought it specifically for the spring mode and didn't give a fuck what the rest of the modes sounded like. Fortunately the extra modes are pretty excellent, I use the Shine mode in my recordings quite a bit.

My former bandmate used a Ghost Echo and that sounds just as good in its own way.

I've yearned for the spring chicken mainly for its oscillation feature.

Full disclosure I was obsessed with spring reverb for years.
