the snare decay only controls the pitched sound, not the noise part....which makes no sense for a snare....

i am gunna sample the beats this weekend, and flip it i think.

snare drum is just as important as bass drum yo.

FWIW, all 3 boxes were alot of fun jamming on my coffee table.

but the beats seems like the least useful in the long run of the 3.

the bass is really dope that you can have a separate sequence for each OSC, or stack them. (u can get some pseudo poly lines going if u want w/ this)
and the keys is awesome too, great sounds. u can get bassy on it as well. great for chords and mono lines!
detuned sounds are easy to gettt. com truise shit.
at first, i was surprised that it doesn't have the traditional sequencer like the bass, but after playing with it, i think i like it that way.
you can get some cool unintentional patterns on it, and cool like fast arps in between your lines by playing sloppy.
plus u can elongate the pattern to 2 and 4 bars which is neat.

both have a pretty wide range of sounds u can coax, but i would say that in the sound dept, the keys is the most versatile.
Yo let me play with the beats before you sell it? Pwease? :)*

I am still excited for beats, it is going to be a clock source for the modular that is being born.

been having a ton of fun w/ my op1 + volcas + newly acquired kenton usb midi host. NO COMPUTER! :yay: got the kenton powered on a USB battery. NO PLUGS! :yay:

yea the beats is cool! i kinda had it in my head before I even got them, that I would probably end up sampling the beats, and flipping it. so regardless of the snare i prob would have done the same.
now i got my volca beats sounds locked & loaded up in my op1 (to mix & match w/ all my other drum patches). i'm a sucker for those monkeys making my beats man.

After quite the unpleasant experience with a craiglist (actually something similar, just saying CL for translation purposes.) seller, I went to a big music store to check out some other stuff and ended up jamming on the volca bass and MAN, IS THAT THING DOPE ?!

They also had an OP-1 but I could not understand what was going on there. A manual would be helpful. :)

Seeing details of everything that it can do made it seem less ridiculous, probably even kind of reasonable, but too rich for my blood still.

yeah, i'm not saying they shouldn't charge that. at ALL. just that hardware synth stuff are more fun toys for me, so it's out of the range i'd pay.

sechsy little thing though.

I received my Volca Keys a couple of days ago and it seems pretty cool. I'm not massively impressed with the delay effect though, it sounds kind of bitcrushed on my unit.

OP-1 for $850 is a steal, with all the features it has.

no diddly. i'm not talking poo about the op. looks a BEAST. just read through the site.

more talking poo about how shitty i am with hardware. pedals i'll spend the time to learn them well enough to actually use what they can do. soft synths i'll twiddle for days. but the Electribe i lived inside of like 10 years ago is the last hardware thing i've owned that i actually got proficient with.

lol. STOP MAKING ME LUST FOR THINGS I KNOW I WON'T LEVERAGE PROPERLY.
